About Charm Thai Cooking

A home cooking school in Chiang Mai where real Thai flavors, Lanna tradition, and warm hospitality come together.

A Story That Started With Food and Family

Liam was born in Sukhothai province, the first capital of Thailand- a place where the very soul of Thai culinary tradition was born. I moved to Chiang Mai in 2006 and opened a food shop at the Ruam Chok local market and then opened the doors for my cooking school. The simple concept for the class is “The magic of family cooking together” Not a commercial facility. You aren’t just preparing a meal, we are building special times. We offer a true safe zone warmth, intimacy of a real home outdoor kitchen environment.

Three Ways to Experience Authentic Thai Cooking

We run three types of Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai to suit different schedules and experience levels.
The half day classes run in Morning session and Afternoon session with 5 recipes hands on learning.
The full day course goes deeper in to Lanna Northern Thai cuisine with 7 recipes from scratch
Our advanced class is fully customized around your goals.Every session is capped at 6-8 students so the experiences always feel personal ,focused and enjoyable.

We cook in an actual family kitchen in Chiang Mai, not a hotel demo room. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and completely authentic from the moment you walk in.

Rooted in Lanna Northern Thai Cuisine

Every recipe we teach comes directly from the culinary traditions of Northern Thailand, using fresh ingredients sourced daily from local markets and our own organic garden.

Small Classes, Personal Attention

We cap every session at 6-8 students. You get real time with your instructor, proper feedback on your technique, and a recipe booklet to take home and use forever.

Frequently Asked Questions

We are a genuine home cooking school, not a large commercial operation. Classes are small, the kitchen is real, and every recipe comes from the Lanna Northern Thai tradition. Guests consistently say it felt more like cooking with a local family than attending a class.

Not at all. Our daily and full day classes welcome complete beginners just as warmly as experienced cooks. Your instructor will guide you through every step, and the small group size means you will always feel supported.

Lanna cuisine is the traditional food of the ancient Lanna Kingdom, centered in Chiang Mai. It is distinct from Central Thai cooking in its use of local herbs, dried spices, charcoal techniques, and richer curry pastes. Dishes like Khao Soi and Chiang Mai sausage are iconic examples of this heritage.
