What relation, if any, do your characters have with the history of their world/worlds? How are they shaped by it? What role do they play in the timeline of their universe?
This will be a fun prompt!
I have several characters that have influence with their world and with their timeline. I stuck them behind a cut because I wasn't expecting myself to get so carried away. This too is just a sampling.
Lilliah Moonshade- One of the first Moon Maidens. She refuses to give up her betrothal to a moon cursed and becomes the first elf to defy the new edicts that ban such a union.
Avanariel Storm- One of the world's leading gunsmiths, she did not start the business, but she becomes one of the leading designers for firearms within the world. Because she is one of the only gunsmiths, she regulates the amount of guns that are created to keep the numbers low. Because the world is rife with magic anyway, technology never progresses much further than 'steampunk'.
Daceliyon "Dace" Starborne- The last of the Starborne line and the last of the 'true elven kings'. He saves Aylendyl from a great evil called the Aluduath and founds a new nation on an island continent. It take Dace a long time to come to terms with who and what he is. He spends roughly 200 years living among humans as a bounty hunter, assassin and mercenary before accepting the role 'fate' dealt him.
Grin- A powerful entity that manipulates people and events in Aylendyl. Because of powerful illusion and shape changing spells that he has cast upon himself in conjunction with a ritual that stripped him of his name, he no longer knows what he is. He later becomes the god of chaos and illusions.
Machalizaar- A demon who later becomes the god of Magic. He was imprisoned for a 1000 years and destroyed the race that imprisoned him and destroyed part of a continent in the process. He later repents and looks for ways to undo the damage he has done. He is a half brother to Blood Omen, a powerful Demon.
Blood Omen/ Saguinais- A powerful demon prince that comes to Aylendyl looking for his brother Machalizaar and later becomes trapped there. As a result, he seeks to subjugate the entire world to his will but is slain in the process. Because of powerful blood magic, he is able to reincarnate, but it takes him several thousand years to do it. His followers cause no end of strife to the world off and on for 10,000 years. He is also responsible for a civil war that completely destroys a kingdom.
Akeno- A celestine who followed Blood Omen to Aylendyl in order to kill him but also died in the process. She was worshiped as a lesser deity of good and protection before she is later reborn into the body of a 'mortal' Called Seraphine. This occurs so that Blood Omen can be stopped a final time. She also becomes a lesser goddess during the ascension.
