Chapter Zero Alliance supports a global network of Chapters to advance climate and nature governance in the boardroom and create long-term strategic value.
Our network of over 30 Chapters spans 70 countries worldwide and reaches more than 100,000 board directors.

Our vision is a world where effective board governance drives sustainable innovation and value creation – balancing opportunity and risk to ensure prosperity within planetary boundaries.
Our goal is that effective climate and nature governance on boards is the norm by 2030.
Our Ambition
The world is changing faster than boardrooms can keep up. Climate disruption, nature loss, AI, cyber risk, geopolitical shocks – each is reshaping the global economy, and together they demand a new kind of board leadership. Most directors are being asked to navigate risks and opportunities unlike anything they’ve faced before.
This is why Chapter Zero Alliance exists. We equip and inspire board directors with the insight and peer support they need to lead confidently through the decisive years ahead. And it works: directors who engage with our Chapters take action – often transformative action – turning climate and nature risk into new market opportunities that support the economy, people and the planet.
Our Funding
All our content and events are available free of charge to our Chapters and their board director members. We are a not-for-profit organisation, entirely funded by philanthropy, and we actively seek funding for our global activities. We cannot achieve our ambitions without the generous support of our funders.

Our Identity
Until January 2026 we were known as the Climate Governance Initiative. We grew from an initial group of just three Chapters to more than 30, between them representing 100,000 board directors and one third of global emissions.
Following the launch of the revised “Guiding Principles for Climate and Nature Governance” at the World Economic Forum’s 2026 Annual Meeting in Davos, the network adopted its new name of Chapter Zero Alliance.
More than simply a revised identity, this change marked the network’s evolution from an ambitious concept to an established global network of federated organisations, all striving for a common goal to strengthen long-term organisational resilience and competitive advantage, to advance a climate-resilient, nature-positive economy.
