12:28PM - Bitching

It might be horrible of me but I resent my grandma. I am stuck babysitting her during the week because

she can't be left alone and my aunt refuses to put her in a home. I hate being stuck at the house all

day. ugh! I caught her putting pudding cups in the microwave with the foil still on. had to dismantle

the oven so she didn't burn the house down. I am 30 years old and I resent having to give up so much of

my life. There is a reason I don't have kids. I don't want the responsibility of another human being. I

don't want to be the caretaker for another person. Yes, I have tried explaining this to my aunt and no,

it didn't work.

3:39PM - replacing fabric

I have a cedar chest that belonged to my grandmother and the fabric is just too hideous to continue being seen. Does anyone know where I can start looking to have this replaced. I am looking at fabric now but i don't know where I would take it to have it replaced.

7:12PM - alterations

I have a new leather jacket that fits great with the exception of the sleeves. Every jacket I tried on had sleeves that were a little to long so I need to find somewhere to take my jacket to have the sleeves taken up an inch or two.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a place that will alter my jacket and not screw it up? I need to have the jacket back by the 31st.

7:31PM - What happened to my hair?

Obviously I find something about my hair distasteful enough to cut it again. I can't seem to be happy with it. At one time I was thinking of letting it grow out long in the front and taper in the back but every time it get to my collar level it drives me crazy so I am stuck in this short hair zone. So I went and had it cut again this morning.. I was fine with it this morning but now I am having cutters remorse.

I told my mother and she freaked the fuck out then called back and apologized. She is worried I am trying to turn into a boy.

THAT is another conversation altogether. Nope, I am not turning into a boy but I have been doing some thinking about cross dressers, Trans, etc and I have found a giant pit of hypocrisy inside myself. That post deserves more time and thought then what I have manically posted here.

I have cleaned and organized so now I am going to make stuffed mushrooms and watch TV and try to remember that when I feel the crazy coming out I should take a breath before doing something drastic.

7:35AM - 1 more day!

In 1972 Shirley Chisholm became the first black woman to run for President. I don't believe many know or remember this. I only know because as I was talking to my aunt about history being made she told me of the woman who was forgotten in history. I hope that tomorrow's loser will not be forgotten. Sarah and Obama have reached a station in government that has previously been dominated by white men.

So no matter who wins tomorrow you have to at least acknowledge that history is being made right in front of us. We will have a black man as president (I hope) or a woman as vice president.

Elizabeth Cady Stanton would be proud to see a woman in such a station as Palin. I hate a lot of things about Palin and honestly I have a hard time imaging anything positive to say about her and I hate the fact that if she is the first woman to reach the white house it will pain me.

Black activist have worked long and hard for equal rights and while most have been given or taken this is one right that not one of them has managed to achieve.

You can disagree with my political view but it is hard to not acknowldge that tomorrow history will be made. We will have a black man or a white woman in a position of power.

Now, if you have found facts that trump my research as to the history making decision tomorrow please let me know. I unlike some of the people I know have no problem being told facts. I don't care about your personal views if all you are going to tell me is how ignorant or stupid I am. You may keep your ignorant mouth closed.

6:11PM

My computer is up and running again. The old hard drive is sitting in the package staring at me and laughing at my pain.
I have no sound though. I am not sure why I do not have sound. This bothers and annoys me. I have music and videos to watch online but with the exception of the ASL vids I have no clue what is going on. Hell I have a hard time with the ASL ones.

I am still waiting to hear back from the insurance adjuster. I got my car estimated and it looks like I will be getting paid close to 2000 in damages.

The doctor gave me some nice steroids that I hope will kick in soon because I am very tired of feeling like shit.

10:50AM

You can tell me I am a bitch but honestly I don’t care. I am confused as to why people who were given sufficient time to evacuate before Ike hit did not do so.  I have lots of friends who live in ClearLakeCity, Webster, Baytown, Pearland, and downtown Houston. With the exception of the downtown Houston folks, everyone cleared out when they got the first warning. I am glad I don’t have to sit here today and worry rather or not they made it.

It frustrates me that we have to go to such extreme search and rescue measures because people were stubborn. Is your pride or possessions worth that much that you risk your life? I don’t care if I have just built a brand new house. If the warnings are to evacuate I am out of there. I understand those who were not originally in Ike’s path but for those who stayed in Galveston there really is no excuse. Have we not learned anything from Katrina?

I can rant for hours but I have better naval gazing to do right now.
