Mark Cutifani
STRATEGIC ADVISOR

Mark Cutifani CBE is a globally recognised figure in the mining industry and leader of major global resource companies. He was most recently the Executive Chair of Vale Base Metals leading both leadership change and business transformation over 2 years and prior to this served as Chief Executive Officer of global resources giant Anglo American for nine years, where he led a significant transformation in operational and financial performance across the group’s global portfolio delivering an annual average 22% total shareholder return during his tenure.
Prior to Anglo American, he was CEO of AngloGold Ashanti and has served as the President of the International Council for Mining and Metals (“ICMM”). Mr Cutifani has been actively involved in some of the largest mining projects and operations in Australia. He was recently appointed a non-executive Director of Woodside Energy.
Mr Cutifani’s career spans nearly five decades in senior executive and operational roles. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree from the University of Wollongong and was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2024 UK King’s Honours List for his contributions to global mining investment. He joined Chalice as a Strategic Advisor in April 2026.
Tony O’Neill
TECHNICAL ADVISOR
Qualifications: BAS (Mining Technology), MBA
Tony O’Neill is a highly regarded mining executive with extensive international experience across multiple commodities. He most recently served as Group Executive Director – Technical and Sustainability at Anglo American for a decade, where he was responsible for driving operational performance, outcome-driven innovation and sustainability outcomes across the business. He is recognised as an industry leader with a strong track record of building high-performance teams.
Mr O’Neill began his career as an engineer in nickel mining in Western Australia and has been actively involved in large mining projects across Australia including the Kalgoorlie Super Pit, Cadia, Telfer and Boddington. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Mining Technology) from Curtin University and an MBA from the University of Melbourne. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (AusIMM). He has served as a non-executive Director of Woodside Energy since 2024, and joined Chalice as a Technical Advisor in April 2026.
Stephen McIntosh
TECHNICAL ADVISOR
Qualifications: B.Sc, MSc (Hons)
Stephen is an internationally recognised figure in the mining industry, with a global career spanning more than 33 years.
He previously served as a member of the Executive Committee at Rio Tinto (ASX: RIO), where he held the role of Group Executive, Growth & Innovation and Health, Safety, Environment and Security. Prior to this, Stephen was Rio Tinto’s global Head of Exploration.
Stephen has been involved in the discovery, evaluation and development of multiple projects across a diverse range of commodities worldwide. He currently serves on the board of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and is Chair of Datarock Holdings Pty Ltd, a machine learning and AI-focused company.
Stephen joined Chalice as a Non-Executive Director in February 2021 and transitioned to a Technical Advisor role in November 2024.
Martin Reed
TECHNICAL ADVISOR
Qualifications: B.Eng (Hons), PostGradDipMgmt
Martin is a highly experienced mining engineer and company director, with a career spanning 40+ years in globally recognised mining and resource companies throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific.
Over this time he has been involved in developing underground and open pit mining operations from feasibility through to operation. Martin was a Non-Executive Director and Study Manager for Saracen Mineral Holdings (ASX:SAR), and recently held the role of Non-Executive Director at Horizon Power.
Previously, Martin developed the greenfield DeGrussa Copper Gold Project as a Project Manager and COO at Sandfire Resources (ASX:SFR). He also served as COO and GM – Operations and Development at St Barbara Ltd (ASX:SBM) overseeing the Gwalia Gold Mine, and was a Construction Manager for the Ravensthorpe Nickel Mine at BHP.
Martin holds a Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and joined Chalice as a Technical Advisor in November 2023.
Kevin Frost
GEOLOGY ADVISOR
Qualifications: B.Sc (Hons) PhD, MAIG
Kevin is an exploration geologist with over 25 years’ experience, having held senior roles in both junior explorers and international mining houses. His expertise spans economic geology covering project evaluation, from grass roots to mining.
Kevin is a joint-winner of the prestigious 2023 PDAC Thayer Lindsley Award and a dual winner of the 2022 AMEC Prospectors Award for the discovery of the Gonneville Project, and previously in 2009 for the Spotted Quoll nickel deposit. Kevin was responsible for Western Area Limited’s significant Flying Fox nickel discovery, propelling them into a dominant role in the nickel sulphide market. He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Geologists.
Kevin joined Chalice in 2016 as General Manager – Exploration and transitioned to a Geology Advisor role in February 2025.
Soo Carney
Environment and Community Advisor
Qualifications: B.NatRes (Hons) PhD
Soo has over 20 years’ experience specialising in environmental, health and safety, Aboriginal engagement, government relations and community investment, and is a proven industry leader. Soo previously held the role of Regional Environment Manager at Alcoa, where she oversaw environmental standards and risk management across operations nationally and contributed to the Company’s global environment and sustainability strategies as part of the corporate environment leadership group. During her career Soo has held senior leadership roles at BHP’s iron ore operations and Woodside Energy’s LNG projects, including the $15B Pluto LNG Project. Soo holds a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and a Bachelor of Natural Resources with Honours, achieves under a full Research Council of Australia scholarship.
Soo joined Chalice in 2021 as General Manager – Environment and Community and transitioned to an Environment and Community Advisor role in May 2025.
Nobi Yamaji
JAPAN REPRESENTATIVE
Mr Noboru (Nobi) Yamaji is a distinguished executive based in Japan, having held high profile roles including President and Representative Director of Rio Tinto Japan Limited for over a decade until 2019.
Prior to this he held numerous senior management positions at Mitsubishi Corporation primarily in projects, and trading, sales, and marketing of nickel.
Until 2021 he was the Vice Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan and has also been appointed as a Commissioner for International Cooperation of the Personal Information Protection Commission in Japan.
Mr Yamaji has an exceptional network in the metals and mining sector in Japan and will assist Chalice in building strong relationships with influential industry leaders, government authorities, trade associations, and potential business partners in Japan as it seeks to advance the Gonneville Ni-Cu-PGE Project. Nobi joined Chalice as Japanese Representative in December 2023.
