Civic Hackathon 2020, presented by Code for Pakistan and Telenor Velocity, taking place ONLINE Dec 4-13 2020, will bring together a mix of technologists, designers, urban planners, social scientists, NGOs and CSOs, and government, to approach and solve social and civic problems in a new way, using technology, data and digital tools.
You will have the opportunity to work on impactful solutions, network and learn from leading industry experts from local and international organisations, and win prizes (worth a total of PKR 600,000)!
This year, the Civic Hackathon 2020 will take place ONLINE!
- You can participate from the comfort of your home or ANYWHERE you like!
- You will also have MORE TIME to work on your projects.
- The online Hackathon offers FLEXIBILITY, so you can work on your projects after work hours and/or classes.
- The Hackathon is open to applicants from ALL OVER PAKISTAN, as well as to international applicants, and we welcome participants with diverse backgrounds and expertise, so apply now!
If you,
- have a great idea that can create a positive impact in your community and address pressing social challenges,
- have skills in web or mobile development, design, mapping, data analysis, research, subject matter expertise in the civic space,

Over the course of a week, you will develop prototypes that tackle and address social and civic challenges in your communities related to the following six themes:

- Public Safety and Security

Eligibility
- Everyone with a passion for improving the community through technology solutions is encouraged to apply to this Civic Hackathon. We encourage diversity (gender, skillsets, backgrounds, both professionals and university students, etc.).
- You do not need to have technical skills to participate. We encourage diverse backgrounds to apply, including open source developers, graphic designers, product managers, researchers, data analysts, civic innovators, subject matter experts in the fields of health, education, fintech, environmental sustainability, public safety and security, food security, etc.
- Participation in the Hackathon is FREE, but admission to the hackathon is open only to those accepted from the pool of applicants. Please do NOT register here if you were not accepted.
Requirements
When you’re ready to enter your submission, go to https://cfphacks2020.devpost.com/ home page and click CREATE A SUBMISSION. You can also start this process and save a draft of your submission as you’re working on it.
- Make sure your code is fully functional and deployed on the server shared by the organizers; it compiles and runs without any major issues.
- Make sure to include good screenshots.
- Write a clear, detailed description of your application.
- Include the link to the public GitHub repo.
- Include the link to the deployed product site.
- We recommend not creating presentation slides, but instead focusing all your time on creating a functioning demo.
- On the submission form, list all your team members by their DevPost usernames.
