I was *finally* tagged by one of those... dumb tag MEMEs

Whoo, Dawn tagged me. Great fun. o__O

You have to post your six current favourite songs, something about each song, then pass it on to six other people. No particular order.

1)Death of a Ladies Man - Leonard Cohen
This song is on some rather depressing crack. It begins with a sad story about a woman coming to see the man that she's secretly loved for almost her entire life on his death bed. And then it gets into all this stuff about abortion and orgies and train stations and you're just all like: "WTF am I listening to? o_O". And then, to make things even better, it ends with some of the most nihilistic lines ever sung about the end of a relationship. This song just kicks so much ass that it... kicks ass. For nearly two weeks straight I swear I didn't listen to anything else... it was actually kind of pathetic.

2)Euphoria (Firefly) - Delerium
Oooh, I love Delerium. This is one of their most lovely songs. It's slow, it's soft it's... melanchony with this sort of, well, euphoric undertone. There's something mesmerizing, hypnotizing about this song, and then it has this one refrain where the tune reaches an absolutely heartbreaking peak. Seriously, it gives me chills. Plus the lyrics- gah! 'I never want to lose what I have finally found, there's a requiem- a new congregation and it's telling me: "go forward and walk under a brighter sky". Every nerve glowing like a firefly'.

3)A Wolf at the Door - Radiohead
Radiohead is just one of those bands that when you listen to them their music absolutely washes over you and you're just like: "Wow, what just happened?" They use a lot of repition and random nonsense lyrics, but I like it. Oh no- I love it. This song is dark, dark, dark and just... weird. It's not the kind of song that I would ever necessarily recommend to anyone, but I simply can't stop listening to it over and over again. There's a certain beat to the verse that just sucks me in.

4)Etude in E Major - Chopin
I'm a classical music geek, but I must admit that I have dumb, geeky reasons to be randomly obsessed with this song. That's right, folks- this is the classical song that played in the last episode of Fullmetal Alchemist. Me being the musical geek I was, I thought: "OMG! CHOPIN!" and, y'know, downloaded it immediately. And then never stopped listening to it obsessively. Seriously, what makes this piece so much better at being depressing is the way that the piano builds and builds and BUILDS and you keep thinking that the crescendo is going to be something powerful and happy, and then at the peak of the measure it just... fades into this heart-wrenching decrescendo that absolutely leaves you in a puddle of goo on the floor. Because classical music totally has that effect on me. And thinking of poor Edward stranded alone in a world he doesn't belong in never really helps matters much ^__^;;

5)Failing the Rorsarch Test - The Matthew Good Band
I love the Matthew Good band, and have loved them ever since I was just a wee lass. Every so often I hear a new song by them and fall absolutely in love with it for the better part of the year. Right now, this is my Matthew Good Band obsession. I wouldn't say it's as good as Weapon (which, OMG, is only the BEST SONG RELEASED IN THE PAST DECADE!!!11!), but it's, y'know, that dark, flooding, melodic kind of stuff I love. In other words- it's alternative rock that actually sounds like alternative rock. HEY! IMAGINE THAT!

6)Tetris Techno Remix - ???
Ha. Just to prove that not ALL of the music I listen to is disgustingly depressing. This song starts off with the heart warming message: "Lets play some Tetris, Motherfucker!" and then it, uh, proceeds to play Tetris. o__O Or rather a really awesome techo remix of the original, faux-Russian Tetris theme. And it's so damn catchy- I was humming it so voraciously one afternoon my mother actuallly threatened to slap me if I didn't stop. Er, all in good humour people. My mother really isn't abusive or at least that's what I tell child service.

And I dictate that the following six people must complete this MEME!!!!
