Classroom Sessions

Request Classroom Instruction

CMU faculty can request that a Librarian visit their classroom for an instruction session on library resources, academic research, information literacy, or digital media literacy, or any related topics. These classroom visits can vary in length depending on the time available and the instructional need. Whether you would like us to speak with your students for an entire hour or just 10 minutes, we would love the opportunity to work with you to promote information literacy in the classroom. Please contact Sara Ratliff, Instructional Services Librarian at sratliff@centralmethodist.edu (ext. 54389) for more information on classroom visits.

Citation and Research Consultations

Citation & Research Consultations

Citation and research consultations are one of the many services we offer. Students, faculty, and staff can meet with a librarian for assistance developing a research question, finding sources, creating a bibliography, and more. For general citation advice, we also recommend these websites:

  • The Purdue OWL: One of the internet's original writing aid references, this has material on APA, MLA, and Chicago style format.
  • The Excelsior OWL: Another easily navigable writing and citation aid, this also has APA, MLA, and Chicago style format help.

Course Guides

Librarians can create custom, curated resource guides tailored specifically to your classes and their instructional needs. Course guides are fully customizable and adaptive, allowing you to offer students a course webpage containing a curated list of videos, articles, webpages, databases, and other relevant resources.

To view an example of a course guide, check out the EN111 - College Composition II (Reacting to the Past) guide. The full list of available course guides can be found on the Research Guides tab of the Library's website. Reach out to a Librarian if you want to explore how a custom course guide could be used in your classes.
