Brief Life update
Got a new full time job. Posted my first ever ficlet on AO3 against my better judgment. Over 1000 hits, 69 kudos (heh... I'm 12) and 10 comments. I think people are mostly liking it for the picture it's inspired by, but it's still a great feeling. :) If greatly inspired again, I may try writing something possibly longer. We shall see. That's about it.

2015!
May you be better than 2014!

Summer Movies YAY!
Go watch Iron Man 3 in the theaters!  It's a great way to begin summer movie season! :)

So much love for everything in that movie.  I want to snog RDJ and GP and everyone else involved in the movie.  I can't wait to see it again.  Have to try to see Disconnect next weekend for Alexander Skarsgård just in case it leaves theaters quickly around here because it's an indie.

After watching Iron Man 3, my friends and I had a nice late lunch at a pub.  And my friends curls and treeofstars and I capped the awesome Saturday by watching Return of the Jedi - 35 mm 1997 print at the Egyptian Theater (same theater ROTJ premiered 30 years ago) with a fun crowd that laughed, clapped, and reacted throughout on May the 4th aka Star Wars Day.  Doesn't get much better than that.  I borrowed my friend J's Ewok cowl and ended up having a couple of people take pictures of me and my Ewok stuffed animals (Wicket, Wiley, and Leeni).  The theater even posted a pic they took of me in my get up on Facebook. (thanks to J. for the find)  I don't even remember taking the pic. :)  It was so surreal but still really fun.  I teared up a bit when the movie scrawl began since I was so emotional about finally seeing a childhood movie in the theater after all these years.  And remembering the experience! (I was only 7 when it first opened)  I then had a dopey grin on my face the rest of the movie and held my Wicket up a little bit for the celebration at the end.  Yes, I geek to the extreme. :)  They all look gorgeous on the big screen, especially Han and Leia.. just big sighs.  Leia's slave outfit got a clap by someone when it first appeared.  She just looked ridiculously hot.  And then Han looked so damn handsome.  Just so much to love.  And then it was all topped by Mark Hamill (right after seeing Luke Skywalker on screen) walk in during a contest to talk to us for about 10 minutes or so.  I flipped.. it was so awesome!  This kind of stuff only happens in LA for the most part, which is why I love that city so much.  Then we fan girl with photo-ops outside - I got pictures with Boba Fett then Darth Vader and two Storm Troopers outside.  I fist bumped one of the Storm Troopers on my way out.  It was an excellent fandom Saturday. :)

Anyway, I'm exhausted but so happy with such a great day and being able to enjoy it with my friends.  Best Saturday I've had in a long time. :)

I love you Tumblr
For being all flaily about the Borgiacest and the twincest on "Game of Thrones."  In real life, I would be completely against any of this, but in fiction, "The Borgias" and "Game of Thrones" have made me root for these completely unconventional pairings.  It also helps when the pairs are so damn pretty and have fantastic chemistry.  And I still blame LOST for starting it all w/ Boone and Shannon who were siblings and then were retro-actively step siblings after their initially freaky but hot history flashback.

I'm telling you if someone told me ten years ago.. or even five years ago that I would be shipping incest on TV, I would have never believed.  Just, hooray for fiction and how challenging but rewarding it can be.

And still on my C/L high from episode 3 of "The Borgias" so off to sweet dreams. :)

Friends Rule!
So excited for May 4 aka Star Wars day!  My friends curls and treeofstars were able to snag me a ticket for a showing of "Return of the Jedi" at the Egyptian theater while I was at work today.  This is the same theater where the movie first premiered back in the 80's.  It's a pity that it's not the original theatrical release, but I'm just glad I get to see this on the big screen at all.  I never got a chance to see the original trilogy in the theaters when I was old enough to remember it.  So, my friends and I are going to Star Wars geek it out.  At this point, I am going to bring my original Wicket stuffed Ewok and my two baby Ewoks (these are from the 80's y'all) in my Yoda back pack (bought from Comic Con a couple of years ago) while wearing my Star Tours t-shirt and my Disneyland R2D2 mouse ears.  I may bring my Jedi Mickey, but I feel like I'm bring too much already.  LOL!  I know that my friends are also planning out their outfits and their props, too.  It will be epic!

And we also plan on watching "Iron Man 3" sometime during my short Friday night/Saturday visit.  I cannot wait!

And speaking of these awesome friends, my friend spicedrum upgraded my San Diego Comic Con pass to 4 day with preview night (again, another friend bailing me out), while my Comic Con roomie friend, R. snagged me a ticket for the Walking Dead Paley FEST panel last month.  That resulted in me getting most of the cast's autographs on my Season 2 Comic Con bag and slapping Norm Reedus's hand.

So yeah.. I'm blessed to have awesome friends who help my fan girl dreams come true. :)

Game of Thrones is back!
Despite the misogynistic text and subtext in this show, I am still cheering for Arya, Dany, Tyrion, and my Lannister twins to take what is theirs with fire and blood!

H50 = fun squee!
I do not watch Hawaii Five-O for the cases. I just watch it because I love Scott Caan lots (mostly since he was such a sweetie when meeting him twice), and I do really enjoy the rest of the cast - Alex O'Loughlin, Daniel Dae Kim, and Grace Park so much, but especially because I love my McDanno (aka Steve and Danny ship).  So, last night's episode had lots of great moments for McDanno including a great scene in which Steve and Danny play football at the end.  All I can say is how great it was to see Scotty run like the wind with his little legs moving and making a nice catch.  But the best part was seeing him leap rather high regardless of wearing snug dress pants with some dress shoes.  I seriously wanted to just put him in my pocket.. SO adorable!  Look at Danno go!  Hee!  So much feels for this episode.  Nice way to lead into a three week hiatus with such a fun, feel good episode.

So anyway, just wanted to share.. because of the cute!

Mele Kalikimaka!
Enjoying seeing family and friends. Bonus is seeing Five-O related stuff around town, including some dude's SUV near my parents' house that had a Hawaii Five-O grips parking pass. Stopped myself from taking a picture of it. :P Looking forward to more of my vacation.

OMG! H50 SQUEE!

One of the best episodes of the series!Collapse )

Another birthday, another year

Currently relaxing at my friend B.'s home in LA.  I'm glad I was able to spend my 36th birthday with friends.  I cherish those birthdays with family or friends more than anything.  My friends treeofstars, B., R., and S. had dinner with me at my favorite Texas BBQ place near my friend's house.  Too bad they ran out of most of the food that we wanted thanks to a late notice catering job.  Boo.. I missed my pit beans. :(  But despite the limited menu choices, the company was still first rate.  We had fun talking about so many different things, including politics of all things.  We laughed at the "out of meat" sign that the place had posted since they had to turn away a bunch of people who came in for the BBQ, too.  We all took pictures of the funny sign.  Even though technically they closed at 10pm, we got out of there at 9:15, since it was obvious the workers wanted to go home since there was no more food to serve.  After that amusing dinner, one of my friends had to go home while the rest of us went back to my friend's house.  We talked so me more then finished the evening watching the pilot episode of "American Horror Story."  What a creepy show and disturbing!  It's a good show, but wow, I have to be in a certain frame of mind to watch such a messed up show.  FX sure gets away with more sex and violence than TNT as far as I'm concerned.  After that, we had to watch two fun episodes of "I Love Lucy" to get the taste of messed up TV out of our heads. :P  Laughed a lot and was just what we needed.  After my other two friends left, my friend B. and I chatted for a bit before she had to work.  And going to bed after 2am (though it was tiring) was just a proper ending to my 36th birthday with friends.  I hope to do it again next year because birthdays are best with friends and/or family.

I hate that I have to go back tomorrow for work on Monday, but at least it's a short work week for me - Friday is Nevada Day so it's a day off.  I'm just glad that I got to come "home" here in LA to recharge myself to finish the quarter next week.  Then, on November 11, I'm back here again for a Barbara Streisand concert with my friends.  I'm looking forward to seeing a legend perform. :)

That's it for now.. guess I should post more but other than seeing Madonna in concert last weekend, nothing really interesting has happened in my life since my summer adventures. :)
