I did a lot of research online before our travel to find places to eat in Japan since I want to try, and also let my mom & sister tries Japanese food. I'm glad there's so many halal options available these days. Thanks to the effort by Halal Media, promoting awareness of muslim-friendly menu and facilities in Japan. Among the sites that I used to plan our travel this time were Halal Media and Have Halal Will Travel. I saved the places I want to go in Google Maps on my phone and used the pocket wifi provided by the apartments we stayed to find those places. We only managed to try these three restaurants for over one-week period as (1) we cook most of the time and (2) spend our money on snacks :)
Yoshiya, Kyoto (Arashiyama)

We had their Tempura Set, Karaage Set and Kaarage Don.
I personally like their peppery karaage.

Ayam-ya, Kyoto (walkable from Kyoto Station)

Pic, Left to Right: Tori Char-Siu Don, Teriyaki Don (maybe... I can't remember), Tori Ramen Shio with egg
We went to this ramen-ya by chance. When we got off from the train, we met a Malaysian student who's attending Kyodai. She was going for dinner at Ayam-ya and invited us to join her. I highly recommend their ramen.

http://www.halalmedia.jp/archives/4100/ayam-ya-halal-chicken-ramen-in-kyoto/ (directions to get there)
Tsuki no Odori, Osaka (Dotombori)

The staff sit us at the private room that has a view onto the street. We had their Yakitori Skewer Set (2100 yen per set) which also comes with salad, rice, karaage and salty caramel gelato. The staff gave us a botol of ABC's sambal asli with our order, which totally makes us LOL and enjoyed the meal more with that spiciness. The yakitori was delicious, my mum still talks about it. The rice serving also plenty, even for a big rice-eater like me. The only thing that I wish was different is that they won't put sauce on the karaage because I'd want to taste its crispiness.

Episode 11 starts sweetly. In the extended scene, this time, Ai Li Si is the one who did the chasing. And confessing her love to He Hao Yi.

It's you

They're reminiscing the past. How they met and fighting over new volume of Naruto. Ai Li Si told Hao Yi, there's a moment when she thinks he is handsome, which is also my favourite scene in Episode 2.
Ai Li Si: When you caught the ball from hitting Lei Lei.
Hao Yi: The one I rescued was you.
Ai Li Si: Why didn't you say anything?
Hao Yi: Nobody asked me.
Ai Li Si: Suddenly I feel like a princess~

Love Toast

:)
However, Ai Li Si only remembering the good memories. Hao Yi gave Ai Li Si a notebook so she can takes notes when she's making new friends. When she meets with Han Ming, he doodled the notebook out of habit. Seeing that doodles, He Hao Yi now knows Lei Lei's secret admirer Peter & Song Han Ming is the same person. Who is also Ai Li Si's secret friend who she's trying to hide his identity from everyone. He confronted Peter. But instead, Peter revealed the truth from 13 years ago and questioned whether Hao Yi deserves to be with Ai Li Si and makes her happy. In the flashback scene, Ai Li Si was bullied by the other girls in the school after the camping accident with the most popular guy in school, Chen Qi Tai. She was calling Lei Lei for help, but Lei Lei didn't hear her. Even though I'm biased towards Hao Yi, Peter is right about this. Hao Yi didn't witness the the beginning of incident with Qi Tai himself, misunderstood her and didn't let Ai Li Si explains the situation. The whole school hate her and her bestfriends and He Hao Yi were ignoring her. She has no one to reach out. This accident has drastically changed Ai Li Si, who was once kind and warm to a cold-hearted person. While Hao Yi told Ai Li Si, who loses her memories, not to be close to Peter out of jealousy, Song Han Ming himself knows that he'll only makes Ai Li Si remembers her worst memories. So, he himself, doesn't get close to Ai Li Si like the time before she reunites with Hao Yi.
Also, in this episode, there's a major progress between Lei Lei & Han Ming. The Queen finally gives in to her feelings towards Han Ming.

I followed Lego Lee and he brought me to this drama gem, In A Good Way. Although I've been capping Love At 17 rather religiously, IAGW easily makes into my all-time favourite drama that I'd highly recommend to ANY drama-watchers. The drama is so humble, the characters is well-written from the first til the last bit and Lego Lee potrays the boy-next-door Liu Chuan perfectly. IAGW reminds me so much of Orange Days which is one of my personal favourite college j-doramas.
Lego Lee's Liu Chuan takes me back to those days when I had a crush on Tsumabuki Satoshi's Kai. Their sensitivity made me swoon. For Jia En, I feel like I watch her grows up all the way through the drama. Jia En x Liu Chuan is in the top of my OTP list. I get cavities from their adorableness. And my jaw hurts from smiling too much while watching (and rewatching) their OTP friendship and romance.
This drama gives a taste of college life 1995-1999 Taipei. Lin Jia En follows her childhood best friend Ren Wei to Taipei, who attended college in the city. On her first day in Taipei, she get pickpocketed and Ren Wei didn't return her BB call. She tries to find him at his dorm. She got the wrong room instead and she met the most popular guy on campus, Liu Chuan. She didn't get into the college in the same year as Ren Wei. So she re-sit the entrance exam with Liu Chuan's help and successfully get accepted the following year.
There's so many other reason to watch the drama. Jia En friendship with Ren Wei, Bai Xue and Ren Wei, the bromance, the OST, Taiwan pop oldies, The Treasure Hunt Society members and other OTP besides Liu Chuan & Jia En. I don't know anything about Taiwanese pop culture reference mentioned in the drama except for Sailor Moon, Tamagotchi, Jacky Cheung, Amura-fashion & Iwai Shunji's Love Letter. My beginning of Taiwanese pop culture was Meteor Garden. IAGW walked me through Taiwan history and its pop culture prior to Meteor Garden. I were in a different place in 1995 yet I can relate to many aspects of the drama. I LOL-ed upon seeing those CRT monitors, green-black screens, a diskette, and payphone queues. Still, it's a very nice drama to watch that'll make you nostalgic about your college days and first love. It's so hard to move on from this drama.
Jia En: I feel that, this can't be real. We are really together.

Day 1

Why so sweet.
ETA: The ending is a great for hatsukoi romance. I wish they have Year 2005 sequel.

Episode 10 Recap

Ai Li Si, let's date! (YES!)

I love you. I owe you this confession for 13 years.

I can't love you. You may not be the person that 30-year-old me love.

It has been 13 years. I'm also tired chasing after you T.T

He Hao Yi still quietly follows Ai Li Si to make sure she’s okay.

He Hao Yi! I remember who I like when I was 17.
WTH?!! They're still not together?! I suffer through this episode when Hao Yi being friend-zoned for the 100th time by Ai Li Si. I'm so tired of Ai Li Si dumdum & indecisiveness. (Am I that bad at making decision back then?) But I'll forgive the script for that double dimple treat. I only realised that Hao Yi is the one who has been doing the chasing (literally) since the very beginning from the throwback. Also, they've butchered Han Ming character. It's so messy. I'm puzzled at why Han Ming is put as the love rival. The love triangle doesn't really exist. I don't have the second lead syndrome with this drama (or the 2nd lead syndrome no longer exist in the recent Taiwan dramas?). He knows why Ai Li Si transferred school 13 years ago but his character is not developed well-enough to be a strong contender even for 30-year-old Ai Li Si love interest. They might as well just focus on him and Lei Lei, something to look forward to in Episode 11.

Juhan Shuttai! is one of my favourite of j-doramas from this season. It's one of the rare, neither idol nor romance-oriented drama that I picked up and keep watching because of it's interesting storytelling. It ensemble the cutest cast ever to potray the life of manga editors and those in the manga and publishing industry. Kokoro, who worked to be a judo gold Olympic medalist her whole life, was forced to retire because of an injury. She then changed her career path and joined the publication house that published her favourite manga, Judo Club Story. It's passionate and romanticized story of ambition, one of the drama that remind us to keep moving forward.
Agarie: That's impossible for someone like me
Kokoro: Who decided that? When this many possibilities are opening up.

Episode 2, best episode ever! The scene that makes me cry the most. Tampopo Railroad seems like something I'd read.

T.T

Now I have a routine, every day I would watch 2 episodes of Les Interpretes. The drama is about the glamorous world of Mandarin-French interpreter. The drama theme itself is something different, the main reason why I'm watching the drama.
The story follows Qiao Fei, who dreams of becoming a French interpreter. She met 'The Devil' Cheng Jia Yang when she was in college and was told she is not suited to be an interpreter. They meet again 6 years later. She's now has to undergo hellish training from the Devil, working her hardest to earn his recognition and fell in love with him.

JY's 8:2 parting

The flowers from the other day... I bought them especially for you.

Jia Yang was raised as an elite. It took me a while to warm up to his character. But once I can sympathize with him, it's easier to watch. He's an alpha male but can still be a sweetheart when he wants to; (1) Jia Yang has one-sided love for his neighbour, Xiao Hua for too long (2) He keeps wine cork diary (3) He cook & order a meal for QF when she injured her feet (4) Buy flowers with QF name meanings (5) Go to the market with QF's mum & hold the basket for her. Other characters in the drama including Qiao Fei, Jia Yang's mum (and her logic to sabotage JY's career so QF can't get him), delusional selective hearing Jia Ming & Xiao Hua are boring. Their issue repeats over and over. But I keep going on because of Jia Yang. I'm officially a fan of Huang Xuan now. All the more reason for me to finish watching The Imperial Doctress.
As for Yang Mi, I love her and Hawick Lau in A Clear Midsummer Night. Maybe because of their real-life relationship, they were so good together in A Clear Midsummer Night. Also, in the drama, I can see Hawick Lau acts as carefree person and not frowning his eyebrows for a change. That's why I like Midsummer Night. But that doesn't stop me from shipping Cheng Jia Yang x Qiao Fei OTP.
The drama has fast-paced dialogue. Cheng Jia Yang and Qiao Fei bantering has become part of my daily dose of sweetness. Although this is a daily drama and the network is airing 2 episodes a day, I just think it's not being released fast enough. The thing about ongoing drama. The good thing is that, the drama will end this week. No more waiting. But the bad news is, I know I'll miss this drama dearly.

Episode 9. The agony episode. Ai Li Si is so dense. I'd die if I have to live Hao Yi's life for a day.

*rolled eyes*

He's still so sweet

I'm quite depressed just to be friends, and now I've turned back to Ah Di. It has gone from bad to worse. (you poor thing)

Do you know what it means for 2 people to enjoy the night view together?

There isn't enough drama in this drama, that they just have to include an unnecessary fighting scene.
I think, comparing it with your high school times, the two of you just now, have gotten O.L.D. - Queen Bai

tch

He Hao Yi! *waves*

*sulk* *sulk*
Viki is so weird. I can watch Ep.10 yesterday but the video isn't there today. Gah~~~ I need to rewatch Ep.10!!!

It's Episode 8 recap. So in the last episode, Ai Li Si's secret was exposed. Now everybody know that Ai Li Si lost her memory. For her, her memory timeline is back to when she was still friends with Lei Lei & Xiao Fen. She wants to make up for the lost time but as Lei Lei said it, "Our lives didn't skip 13 years". Only Hao Yi is glad that she's now her 17-year-old self.

awwww

You're very important, extremely important.

I found the song that they're using in the drama for Ai Li Si x Hao Yi's throwback
