CCO Missions exist to bring Jesus to the nations. Through a CCO Mission you will learn how to proclaim the kerygma while also growing in your own relationship with Jesus. Mission is a life changing experience, but we need your yes.

“And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him? And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent?” (Romans 10: 14 – 15)

St. Francis Xavier, a patron of missions, was scared that people would miss the opportunity to encounter Jesus. His biggest prayer was that young adults “…would cry outwith all their heart: Lord, I am here! What do you want me to do? Send me anywhere you like – even to India.”

How has Jesus changed your life?

When we encounter Jesus, our lives are completely transformed. How can we not share him with others? Missions provide us with the opportunity to do just this – to bring Jesus to those who need him the most.

Step into history. Walk the same sacred ground where the Canadian Martyrs gave everything for the Gospel. Join us this summer for a CCO’s PilgriMission, a powerful blend of pilgrimage, retreat, and mission.

What Is a PilgriMission?

A PilgriMission is more than a trip; it’s where the heart of a pilgrim meets the mission of an apostle. As pilgrims, you’ll enter deeply into prayer, the sacraments, and daily formation. As missionaries, you’ll step out in boldness, engaging in spiritual conversations with fellow pilgrims, sharing your testimonies, and inviting others into a life-changing encounter with Jesus.

The Experience

  • Live and serve at the Shrine
    Take part in the daily life of this holy site and welcome the thousands who come to pray.
  • Encounter fellow pilgrims
    From the Centennial Mass on June 27 (2–3,000 attendees) to the Tamil Pilgrimage on July 12 (10,000 pilgrims), you’ll have daily opportunities for relational evangelization.
  • Grow in holiness and mission
    Receive world-class formation that helps you pray deeply, lead intentionally, and share the Gospel simply and clearly. The slower rhythm of life will invite you to rest, reflect, and discover the joy of missionary living.
  • Outdoor Adventure
    Enjoy the beauty of Georgian Bay through outdoor experiences with the potential for hiking, canoeing, and camping.

Daily Rhythm

  • Mornings: Prayer, worship, and Mass
  • Afternoons: Spiritual conversations with visitors + hands-on service with Shrine staff
  • Evenings: Outreach events inspired by Summit (i.e. testimonies, praise, and kerygmatic talks)
  • Throughout: Ongoing formation in prayer, holiness, leadership, and evangelization

What’s Included

Meals, materials, accommodations, most activities, transportation during mission, transportation from Toronto to Midland and back to Toronto after mission.

What’s Not Included

Travel to Toronto and back home, personal incidental expenses, fundraising expenses.

Some mission related costs, including travel to mission, may be reimbursed if participants raise sufficient funds over and above the cost of mission.

A Week of Encounter, Conversion, and Missionary Adventure

In this alumni-focused PilgriMission’ to the Camino de Santiago (The French Way) we invite you to embrace your missionary identity and reignite your zeal as missionary disciples.

The Camino is the fastest-growing pilgrimage in the world. Each year, thousands of seekers (many unevangelized) walk this ancient route in search of meaning. What an opportunity this is for the sowing of the Gospel!

At the same time, the Camino offers practicing Catholics a rich immersion in their faith: historic churches, pilgrim Masses, frequent access to the sacraments, and the daily graces (and challenges!) of life on The Way.

For centuries, the Camino has been a place of encounter and renewal. For a week together, we’ll step into that living stream, seeking deeper intimacy with Christ, community with one another, and seizing natural opportunities to share Jesus with the pilgrims we meet.

What to Expect

Walk by day

We’ll journey through a strategic one-week stretch at the beginning section of the Camino Francés, the most iconic and historic of the Camino routes. Each day includes a balanced rhythm of walking, prayer, reflection, meaningful conversation, and the simple joy of pilgrim life along the beautiful landscapes of Northern Spain.

Mission by evening

In the auberges and shared spaces along the route, we’ll take opportunities for relational evangelization and spiritual conversations with fellow pilgrims from around the world. The Camino already opens doors; we will simply take these opportunities to share Christ, with missionary hearts. Two tools we’ll be leaning into are the four skills for Intentional Accompaniment Conversations and the Ultimate Relationship Booklet.

  • Formation rooted in CCO’s missionary identity

  • Special online preparation leading up to departure, led by Intentional Accompany Specialists, and tailored specifically to help CCO Alumni live as activated disciples

Before & After the Week

Our guided portion covers one week of the Camino, but participants are welcome to continue walking after the mission, even continuing on to complete the full Camino journey, if they wish.

You’ll also receive coaching and supported to bring the experience to your community back home through the Activate program.

Who This Is For

This Pilgrimission is for young adults aged 23–36 seeking renewal, growth in mission, and meaningful adventure.

Participants must be physically able to backpack the full distances involved (15–25 km per day, carrying a full pack, often over mountainous terrain). Spots are limited, and previous CCO experience, such as attending a conference, participating in a faith study, or having been on a mission, is an asset.

On mission I was able to recognize my heart for the lost, through that revelation I made the decision that I never wanted anyone to experience a life away from Jesus.

We met at a random parish during a random service that he rarely went to while I was doing outreach… We had a good spiritual conversation where I learned he wanted to be closer with God. CCO Missions FAQ

Before you can receive a response about the status of your application, we first need three completed references for you. Once all three are received, it can take up to three weeks before you hear back. Please note that this will likely be longer if your application was submitted in the few weeks surrounding our Rise Up conference at the end of December or close to the mission application deadline. For any questions, make sure to reach out to missions@cco.ca.

If you are accepted, you will be emailed a welcome email with more information on what the next steps are. You will also be sent some forms, these forms are to be signed and sent to CCO Missions along with a non-refundable donation in order to secure your spot on the mission.

To secure your spot on the mission, the ‘deposit’ is $100 for a domestic mission and $200 for an international mission. We technically don’t use the word deposit anymore because the first donation is non-refundable. 

Yes, you can ask others to make a donation to your project to cover the first donation or can choose to make the donation yourself. Again, all donations are non-refundable. 

The cost of a mission can be covered through donations from others or donations to yourself, both of which are non-refundable. Upon acceptance, you will receive a financial schedule that you are expected to follow. We have structured these deadlines to include checkpoints that will lead up to the beginning of the mission, this is to ensure that you are set up for success. Fundraising is a missionary opportunity: we get to invite people into the mission and share the Gospel with them.

The short answer is no. According to the CRA, “at law, a gift transfers ownership of the money or other gifted property from the donor to the charity. Once the transfer is made, the charity is obliged to use the gift in carrying out its charitable purposes.” If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact missions@cco.ca.

Non-students are allowed to apply for CCO mission trips. However, since our organization’s primary work is with university students, students will have priority unless the mission is specifically for non-students. 

CCO missions are primarily evangelistic, and so sharing the Gospel will be an aspect of every mission. Other than proclaiming the name of Jesus, what we do is different for every mission. However, something that is similar for all the missions is that you will have daily prayer time, daily praise and worship, and daily training talks. Something that is special about going on a mission is the ability to practice abandonment, which is a core value in CCO. What this looks like is placing your trust in the mission team that what they have prepared for the mission is good and led by the Holy Spirit. You do not necessarily need to know the full schedule in order to choose to participate fully. If you feel called to go on mission but this is something that you struggle with, please do not hesitate to reach out to your campus missionary or contact us at missions@cco.ca.

Mission is a full-time commitment. Unfortunately, we cannot allow people to take online courses while on mission. We desire for you to be fully present not only to mission, but to your studies. If you’re a university student, we understand that school should be your main focus and priority. We want to make sure that we are doing everything in order to be able to support that, even if it’s making the hard decision to not go on mission this year.

Orientation length depends on what type of mission you attend. If you’re going on a reading break mission, orientation will typically be one day. If you’re going on a summer mission, mission orientation can be anywhere between 2 to 3 days. While at orientation, you will receive training on different topics that will help you on mission. Orientation is also an opportunity for you to bond with your mission team and leaders.

The quick answer is no. Orientation is a significant time for the team, it allows you to bond with those going on mission with you while also learning about the tools you will be using on mission. In addition, there are a couple of talks that you legally have to attend in order to be able to go on mission. For any questions or concerns please contact missions@cco.ca.

Yes. Please note that, unless it is written in the mission description, this is not included in the price. Though, if you fundraise above your goal, this transportation could be eligible to be reimbursed. For any questions, please contact missions@cco.ca.

Yes, if you receive one or several donations to cover the cost of the deposit they can be submitted for that purpose, keeping in mind that your spot on the mission is not secure until you submit the deposit.

It’s possible. Please email us a request once you have been accepted on mission to discuss the implications.
