Process

From concept to completion, we oversee the development of our furniture entirely in-house.

What to Expect

Our process is focused on the experience of the entire client group, which includes the end users, designers, and furniture dealership. Direct communication, timely response, and useful resources provide everything that is needed to deliver a successful project. Building high quality bespoke furniture is an involved process, but we make it easy for the client group.

Step One
Initiate the Conversation

Browse our products and review our presentation-ready images, technical drawings and model files.

Does one of our collections meet the needs of your project? Discuss your project scope with an experienced team member who will evaluate the project space, demonstrate how our product can fit into it and establish expected lead times.

Do you have a project that is highly customized? Upload your drawings, sketches or inspiration in the link below, and we can start the design process. Pulling from our decades of experience, we excel at bringing custom designs into life.

Step Three
Finalize the Details

The client group will review and approve the design and quote with the CCN sales team. Once preliminary approval is received, we will generate final approval drawings, forward samples and estimate freight. Our engineering department will resolve all technical details of the project in their detailed engineering review final approval drawings. A purchase order is provided to the client group. Our standard lead time is thirteen weeks from when the client provides complete order approval.

If any changes are needed at this stage, we can accommodate them before the product enters the manufacturing stage. Our in-house manufacturing makes us agile and able to accommodate client needs, even late in the process. Our team will always openly communicate if there are lead time or pricing changes.

Step Two
Create a Design and Budget

Based on our initial conversations, we will generate designs tailored to your project. The goal is to clarify specific criteria of your project, such as aesthetics, the footprint and dimensions, as well as materials and finishes. Our in-house design team will create and provide drawings that document the designs. If requested by the client or designers, we can also provide 3D renderings.

In addition to design deliverables, our sales team will compile base pricing options for your project in the form of a quote. The furniture dealership can evaluate budget perimeters and review project costs with the client.

At the end of the design process, you will have everything you need to tell the story of your project.

Manufacturing

Step Four
Manufacture the Product

With finalized engineering drawings, your project is active in our manufacturing facility. The whole process of manufacturing your project is completed in-house, from initial material processing to finishing and packing. Our process is broken down below.

Veneer Lay-up

Most of our projects start with veneer layup. Our skilled craftspeople handpick flitches, or narrow pieces, of wood veneer, and arrange each piece by hand. It is an artform that ensures a beautiful final finish that meets exacting specifications.

CNC Machining

Once sheets of material are created, they enter our machining department, where components are cut with a high degree of accuracy using CNC milling machines. Table shapes, cut-outs, and hardware holes are created here.

Hand Machining

Many of the details that give our product a high level of refinement are cut manually by our skilled woodworkers.

Assembly

Individual pieces are then assembled in our assembly department, where the project really takes shape. At each stage, our experienced department leads and management ensure that quality is maintained. We ensure all details and dimensions from the design phase are realized accurately in the actual furniture piece.

Finishing

The assembled components are then brought to finishing. All surfaces are sanded, and our skilled finishers apply the specified finishes. We can custom match finishes to your project.

Packing

After all finishes have time to cure, they go to our shipping department, where they are carefully packed. Products are tagged, so they end up in the correct space in your project, and are finally loaded on to outbound trucks and head to the job site.

Installation

Step Five
Deliver and Install

CCN does not install the furniture products we make, but we closely oversee the delivery and installation process to ensure our products are installed correctly. Ultimately, we want the whole client group to be satisfied with the final result.
