Michael D. Manhart, PhD
Chair
After receiving his doctorate in Microbiology from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Dr. Manhart embarked on a career in Research & Development with Procter & Gamble. While there he held numerous management roles of increasing responsibility in various global health care and pharmaceutical organizations; he retired in 2008 as a Director of R&D. Dr. Manhart also served on the CCL Board of Directors from 2007 to 2009, and with his wife, Karen, has been a Teaching Couple for more than 30 years. In July 2009, he was appointed executive director and led the organization until 2016. He has served as a Senior Scientific consultant for CCL and is a member of the FACTS Advisory Council. In 2019, Dr. Manhart was invited back onto the Board of Directors. He resides in Cincinnati, Ohio and is the proud father of four and grandfather of five.
Victoria Quintana DeBayle
Vice-Chair
I am a Florida-licensed attorney and have practicing transactional law since 2011. In addition to being an attorney, I have worked on committees to plan and implement many special events at our firm, from the summer program for law clerks, to an annual “Getting a Head Start on Pro Bono” program as well as other events throughout the years. Outside of my work as an attorney, I have also volunteered through various Church organizations to put on programming for marriage preparation and assisted in the planning and implementation of a Women’s Health and Fertility Seminar in 2018 for the Archdiocese of Miami. My husband, Carlos and I have been a teaching couple since 2015. In 2020, I took on the role of office administrator at the Miami office of Hogan Lovells and my role includes recruiting, hiring and evaluation both attorneys and business services staff.
Zachary Clark, CFP®
Treasurer
After graduating from the University of Louisville in 2010, Zack began his career in financial
planning. He earned the Certified Financial Planner® designation in 2013, the same year he
married his high school sweetheart, Courtney. Zack and Courtney learned the CCL Sympto-Thermal Method and taught modules on intimacy, children, and family planning for Louisville’s diocesan marriage prep program. In 2018, Zack founded Clark Financial Planning. The same year, Zack and his wife Courtney welcomed their first child and he joined the CCL Board Of Directors. He was elected Treasurer and has served in that role ever since. They now reside in their hometown of Owensboro, KY with their three boys.
Véronique Gaeta
Secretary
Véronique and her husband, Pablo, have been CCL teachers since 2002. They have three children and support couples in Southern California, where they have taught over 175 couples. Véronique earned her degree in education from California State University, Northridge. With over 20 years teaching experience and a wealth of active leadership in her local CCL team, Véronique brings consistent passion and a unique perspective to our Board of Directors.
Rev. Robert R. Cannon, MA JCL, Col, USAF
Father Cannon is Chancellor of the Archdiocese for the Military Services and serves as the primary archdiocesan contact for Catholic U.S. Military chaplains based worldwide. The 30-year Air Force veteran brings a wealth of experience, education, and spirituality to the task.
Father Cannon was ordained on May 13, 1978 in his home diocese of Venice, Fla. He was commissioned as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 1986 in Rome, Italy. At the request of the Air Force Chief of Chaplains, he began staffing assistance tours in 2003 and extended active duty in 2010. He has served in multiple roles as both a staff chaplain and a Wing Chaplain.
In civilian life, Father Cannon served as Parochial Vicar at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Clearwater, Fla., from 1978 to 1979; School Pastor at Cardinal Mooney High School in Sarasota, Fla., from 1979 to 1984; Dean of Students and Adjunct Professor of Social Sciences at St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami, Fla., from 1984 to 1986; Judicial Vicar for the Diocese of Venice, Fla., from 1990 to 2002; and Rector of Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, Fla., from 1999 to 2003.
Richard Bulzacchelli
Richard Bulzacchelli currently serves as Lecturer in Theology at Catholic Studies Academy and as the Department Head and Theology Teacher at St. John Paul II Catholic High School, Schertz, Texas. He holds degrees in Systematic Marian Studies, Systematic Theology, Masters in Religious Studies and Christian Theology with a B.A. in Philosophy. Richard is both a published writer and lecturer in these areas and looks forward to lending CCL the benefit of his expertise and experience in the challenge of teaching online. He also will be a tremendous resource in providing insight into how to speak truth in a secular age.
Jim Volpe
Jim Volpe's career has been in software program definition, development, and testing. He looks forward to using those skills particularly in relation to the PeakDay app but also in general business process automation. Jim has been a member of CCL since he and his wife, Jen, were engaged and they have been a teaching couple for over 20 years. "CCL and NFP in general have been a huge blessing to our marriage and I look forward to supporting the league so that I can help other couples."
