Child & Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (I.O.P)

Child & Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (I.O.P)

Our I.O.P. for youth ages 6-17 with anxiety who need more intensive services to:

  • Find relief from impairing anxiety that is causing a youth to pull back from life and feel worse about themselves and their future
  • Use exposure therapy to reduce avoidance of life demands and feel empowered to pursue goals
  • Give a child or adolescent a community of peers and professionals that supports them, understands them, and empowers them to “lean in” to anxiety-inducing activities
  • Stay engaged in school or important life activities while receiving treatment

Courage Academy

Creating a level of intervention below a residential or inpatient hospital but more than typical outpatient services, Courage Academy is a short-term treatment option to target bothersome and/or impairing symptoms that warrant a higher dose of intervention. This is accomplished while keeping your child in their typical day-to-day environment where it’s most helpful to practice change.

“Nuts and Bolts” of our Child I.O.P:

  • Twice weekly individual or family therapy with a child OCD specialist
  • Daily ERP treatment for 1-2 hours for 2-6 weeks
  • Treatment is provided in office, remotely, or in the community based on treatment needs
  • Benefit from expertise and personal touch of multiple OCD specialists and behavioral coaches involved in your care
  • Daily group therapy (ERP, DBT, EF training)
  • Caregiver support (SPACE)

Outcomes

Since opening our I.O.P. in 2019, 75% of youth or adults in our IOP reported a meaningful reduction in primary symptoms being targeted, including OCD and general anxiety, associated with self-reported improved quality of life and functioning. Our clients showed better outcomes than benchmark clinical research studies despite a higher level of symptom severity upon admission to our I.O.P. than in these studies.

On average, just one week of child I.O.P. is associated with a 16% reduction in anxiety symptoms.

Don’t take our word for it! Hear from former I.O.P. families:

“The program gave us an intensive treatment program without having to go inpatient. Our child was engaged and focused on a set of goals, which was key to the success of the treatment, and it helped get us to a much better place for both our child and our family.”

“We were appreciative of the IOP team’s willingness to work with, not just us as a family, but also our child’s school support system, to ensure that consistency in terms of incentives and disincentives, as well as expectations, were aligned across all aspects of his life.”
“Overall, while the clinicians we worked with had varying approaches and different levels of experience, they each brought a fresh perspective and a different skillset to the table, which allowed our child to progress gradually but consistently through the process.”
“What we accomplished with the IOP and team and family support was amazing-our child went from 2 hours of showering a day to skipping a day, which was incredible.”
“One of the challenges was our child’s inability to articulate or even fully understand their range of emotions – whether anger, anxiety, frustration, or fear. Our child ended therapy with the tools to be able to diagnose their own mood, and “troubleshoot” their reaction to difficult situations.”
“The most important gift the program gave us collectively as parents was a platform to align on our accommodation and OCD management strategies…consistency and clarity became our friends. We knew that giving in to accommodations was not the same as compassion, but IOP afforded us a “coach” who kept us focused.”
“OCD and anxiety wreaked havoc on our family and negatively impacted all of us. If your child is ready to make the commitment to do the work, the IOP will change how your child, and you, navigate OCD and anxiety.”
“Deciding to commit to IOP is a personal decision based on each family’s specific circumstances, but it was one of the best decisions we have ever made as a family.”
“CBTeam met my child where they were, and they weren’t afraid to speak truth to power and really shake things up. That is exactly what we needed. The parental support was above and beyond anything we had ever been offered- we had some very rough patches during treatment, and the team was always there to support us and our family.”
