Most likely your smoke detector is chirping because the battery is low. Change out the 9-volt battery. After changing the battery, you must hold down the test button to reset the smoke detector.
Before making a warranty request through your builder, try the following solutions:
- Sometimes an outlet is wired to be operated by a switch. Try turning on all of the light switches in the same room as the outlet that is not working to see if this corrects the problem.
- In areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, patios, garages and other “wet” areas, outlets are protected by a device known as a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). If an outlet is not working in one of these areas, look for the outlet that has a “reset” and “test” button. Press the “reset” button and see if this corrects the problem. The GFCI could be located in the same room you are having the power issue but could also be located in a different bathroom or exterior wall.
- If the above solutions do not correct the problem, check the breakers in the electrical panel located in the garage to determine if any of the breakers have “tripped”. If you need assistance with this step or if the above listed solutions do not correct the problem, please call our office and we will be happy to assist you.

Your warranty is through your builder. Contact your builder for all warranty questions or warranty service requests. If the builder determines you are covered under warranty, your builder will contact us so that we can schedule your service.
