About Melanie

As a quilter, designer, teacher, and writer, I specialize in medallion quilt design and strategies that assure their success. I’ve made more than 100 medallion quilts and have probably written more about the quilt form than anyone else, but I love and make other types of quilts, too.

I was a featured artist in the Iowa Quilt Museum’s 2023 Iowa Quilt Festival with a solo exhibit of a dozen quilts.

My amazing husband Jim and I blog together at Our View From Iowa where we write about a broad range of things. He also publishes How I See It where he enjoys writing mostly about science-related topics.

For several years in a former life I managed investments for individuals and families, non-profit organizations, and retirement plans. I’ve also taught financial management. These days I quilt, write, and work out at the gym.

One of the best parts of blogging is interacting with you. Please leave a comment, ask a question, hit Like, share on social media, tell your friends! I’d love to hear from you, and the more the merrier!
