I'm Cassidy, a writer, storyteller, and game developer who graduated from UW-Whitewater in May of 2022. In 2026, I'm emerging from a long mental health hiatus and finally getting involved in the professional world. Right now, that looks like freelance copywriting and editing as a freelance contractor, but I'm still open to game design opportunities, too!
The games on my profile are projects that I worked on during my tenure at Whitewater. Some were for my courses, some were for game jams, and some were just for fun. I haven't worked on them much since, but soon, the dead will return~
For the sake of closure, here's what the future looks like for each of the games I've worked on:
Group Projects:
Cliffhanger — This is the one game that I consider truly finished; no further revisions are planned. It will remain available on itch.io for the foreseeable future, unless any of its other co-developers request otherwise.
Demos — Neither System Overload nor End of The Party are moving any further in development. Both of their demos will remain available on itch.io for the foreseeable future, unless any of their other co-developers request otherwise.
(Erstwhile) Solo Projects:
A Semi Truck Ride with Disaster — I took this one down for now, since its story didn't have much to say outside of the specific time and place for which it was written. If it seems like a good fit for some new story concept that I come up with down the road, I might adapt and re-release it.
AGLST (Anime Girl Laser Space Tank) — Development on my erstwhile flagship project has been permanently suspended in light of my evolving thoughts on AI-generated content, and I took the demo down, too. A more detailed epithet is available on its page from now through the end of this calendar year; after that, it'll disappear entirely.
Cross Back — This game's page has been set to "Restricted" for now; it contains more information than I want to share, at least while internet privacy protections remain in such a sorry state. When things get better, it'll return with upgraded audiovisual content and the same sweet story.
ESCAPE — Some six years after its release, the story of ESCAPE is finally being built out to its utmost potential. Compared to this full re-release, the original ESCAPE was just a demo. There will be new characters, new locations, new dialogue trees, and new narrative possibilities. Decisions will matter more, characterization will be explored more dynamically, and the trust/closeness system will be getting a complete overhaul. Watch its page for dev logs this autumn!
A conclusion worthy of what making this game has meant to me:
ESCAPE: Ultimate
by Cass Aleatory with sadie ng
Release Date: TBA
Exarch — This was slated to be my original flagship project, back before AGLST even existed. If you remember it, then consider me thoroughly impressed—it never even had an itch.io page. For now, just know that I haven't forgotten about it, and it may yet be developed.
Log Lady: Twin Peaks — This game is down for maintenance in light of the Unity exploit discovered last autumn. I'll also be taking this opportunity to revisit the game in light of David Lynch's passing. While the game will be unavailable for some time, both the dialogue pertaining to Lynch and the content of Sierra's secret ending are getting a substantial relift.
Look Closer — This is consistently the most popular of my projects, so why not explore its world more thoroughly? Once ESCAPE is done, this game will start to expand a quest or two at a time, deconstructing more of the fantasy genre's most iconic tropes as it goes. Expect 'character' development for the signature mechanic, new quests, new allies, and dragons. More dragons.

These are my favorite complete, story-driven games made by other developers on itch.io!
