This case describes a real scenario in which an elderly couple, the vehicle is stranded in a remote location, which are sent to emergency services to considerable effort and expense, while a tow would cost dispatch completely solved the problem. To prevent this type of false alarm situations, the Canadian Automobile Association has (CAA) developed a free iPhone application called CAA road that takes advantage of location-based technology that is integrated into the iPhone. Discussion questions invite students to consider the business benefits of developing mobile apps that compromises when choosing a development platform over another are involved, and long-term positive and negative effects of the proliferation of mobile location-based technologies.
