Have you ever given a friend or partner a second chance? What were the consequences? Any regrets?

Always, and usually with the same result...they end up doing the same thing you forgave them for before. People rarely change very much.

Woolworths shut its doors in the U.K. last week, sending many into a frenzy of nostalgia and bargain shopping. What now-closed store or chain do you wish was still open?

When I was a little girl we had a Ben Franklin store and a Morgan & Lindsey store. This was before Wal-Mart moved into town. I have many fond memories of browsing these two little stores with my grandmother.

I enjoyed watching Supernatural tonight. It was a repeat but the first time it was on I had missed over half of it, only seeing the very end. So to me it was new. It was all about protecting Anna who's wanted by the demons and by the angels. The angels just want to kill her but the demons probably want her for other purposes, none of which can be good. Only on Supernatural could we have evil angels. Uriel is a big pain in the ass, can you imagine getting any comfort and protection from him? I'm getting tired of Castiel standing around looking all doe-eyed and regretful. But I did like his little Sammy dropping act, one touch to the forehead and down went Sasquatch. Hey, I just realized that Dean doesn't make all those Sammy jokes anymore. And did you see Dean helping Ruby? If this were a first season show, or even a second, we would've had Sam really rubbing in the fact that Dean helped a demon, not just in a fight but helped her get up off the floor. Not only that, he leaves Anna with her. Pamela the now-blind psychic puts in an appearance. I'm not sure I like her but she is smart, she has her hand on Sam's ass in no time flat. And where's Bobby? Did they say the Dominican Rep. or something like that? Researching I suppose. Can you picture Bobby on the beach? Anyway, Anna remembers who she is and there's a lot of talk about her losing her grace and they need to find it but Uriel's smirking cause he has it. Dean and Anna have hot sex in the back of the Impala...well, I think it was hot, they wouldn't let us see much and why would Anna keep her bra on the whole time? But it was worth it for that nice view of Dean's back, I swear my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth and I couldn't swallow for a good 15 minutes. Then we get Ruby being tortured by Alistair, this squicked me so bad I was sitting there with my hand over my eyes. I thought he was cutting up her breasts or another lower section of her anatomy but then later she's shown all bloody across the stomach. Anyway, all the demons and angels go away for now. Then it's confession time and Dean's bawling...my poor baby...and Sam JUST SITS THERE and offers nothing but a few measley words.

The preview for next week's show was confusing, Dean hanging from a noose. I read somewhere it's suppose to be about a farmhouse with a woman in the walls. It sounds like a regular hunt, as do the previews for the next shows after that. I suppose they're saving the demon and angel confrontations...you KNOW there's going to be more...for the finale.

I should have been asleep an hour ago. We have a couple of testing things to give tomorrow and then a million errands after work. There's that new Clone Wars episode to watch tomorrow night though.

"Courtyard Lullaby" by Loreena McKennitt

Wherein the deep night sky,
the stars lie in its embrace.
The courtyard still in its sleep.
Peace comes over your face.

"Come to me", it sings
"Hear the pulse of the land.
The ocean's rhythms pull
to hold your heart in its hand."

When the wind draws strong
across the cypress trees,
the nightbirds cease their songs;
so gathers memories.

Last night you spoke of a dream
where forests stretched to the east
and each bird sang its song;
a unicorn joined in the feast.

And in a corner stood
a pomegranate tree
with wild flowers there
no mortal eye could see.

Yet still some mystery befalls
sure as the cock crows at morn.
The world in stillness keeps
the secret of babes to be born.

Come to me my love.
Hear the pulse of the land.
The ocean's rhythms pull
to hold your heart in its hand.

I heard an old voice say,
"Don't go far from the land.
The seasons have their way
no mortal can understand."

"Greensleeves"

Alas, my love you do me wrong
To cast me off discourteously;
And I have loved you oh so long
Delighting in your company.

Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves my heart of gold
Greensleeves was my heart of joy
And who but my lady Greensleeves.

I have been ready at your hand
To grant whatever thou would'st crave;
I have waged both life and land
Your love and goodwill for to have.

Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves my heart of gold
Greensleeves was my heart of joy
And who but my lady Greensleeves.

Thy petticoat of sendle white
With gold embroidered gorgeously;
Thy petticoat of silk and white
And these I bought gladly.

Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves my heart of gold
Greensleeves was my heart of joy
And who but my lady Greensleeves.

"Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak

The world was on fire and no one could save me but you
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do
I'd never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you
I'd never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you

No I don't wanna fall in love (this girl is only gonna break your heart)
No I don't wanna fall in love (this girl is only gonna break your heart)
With you
With you (this girl is only gonna break your heart)

What a wicked game you played to make me feel this way
what a wicked thing to do to let me dream of you
what a wicked thing to say you never felt this way
what a wicked thing to do to make me dream of you

And I don't wanna fall in love (this girl is only gonna break your heart)
No I don't wanna fall in love (this girl is only gonna break your heart)
With you

The world was on fire and no one could save me but you
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do
I'd never dreamed that I'd love somebody like you
I'd never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you

No I don't wanna fall in love (this girl is only gonna break your heart)
No I don't wanna fall in love (this girl is only gonna break your heart)
With you (this girl is only gonna break your heart)
With you (this girl is only gonna break your heart)

No I... (this girl is only gonna break your heart)
(This girl is only gonna break your heart)

Nobody loves no one.

"When Johnny Comes Marching Home"

When Johnny comes marching home HURRAH HURRAH!
Well give him a hearty welcome then HURRAH HURRAH!
The men will cheer, the boys will shout
And the ladies they will all turn out
And well all be gay when Johnny comes marching home.

The old churchbell will peel with joy HURRAH HURRAH!
To welcome home our darling boy HURRAH HURRAH!
The village lads and lassies say
With roses they will strew the way
And well all feel gay when Johnny comes marching home.

Get ready for the jubilee HURRAH HURRAH!
Well give the hero three times three HURRAH HURRAH!
The laurel wreath is ready now
To place upon his loyal brow
And well all feel gay when Johnny comes marching home.

Let love and friendship on that day HURRAH HURRAH!
Their choicest treasures then display HURRAH HURRAH!
And let each one perform his part
To fill with joy the warriors heart
And well all feel gay when Johnny comes marching home.

"Solitary Man" by Neil Diamond

Melinda was mine
'Til the time
That I found her
Holding Jim
Loving Him
Then Sue came along
Loved me strong
That's what I thought
Me and Sue
But that died too.

Don't know that I will
But until I can find me
The girl who'll stay
And won't play games behind me
I'll be what I am
A solitary man
Solitary man.

I've had it to here
Bein' where
Love's a small word
Part-time thing
Paper ring.

I know it's been done
Havin' one
Girl who'll love me
Right or wrong
Weak or strong.

Don't know that I will
But until I can find me
The girl who'll stay
And won't play games behind me
I'll be what I am
A solitary man
Solitary man.

"Kentucky Rain" by Elvis Presley

Seven lonely days
And a dozen towns ago
I reached out one night
And you were gone
Don't know why you'd run,
What you're running to or from
All I know is I want to bring you home

So I'm walking in the rain,
Thumbing for a ride
On this lonely Kentucky backroad
I've loved you much too long
And my love's too strong
To let you go, never knowing
What went wrong

Kentucky rain keeps pouring down
And up ahead's another town
That I'll go walking thru
With the rain in my shoes,
Searchin for you
In the cold Kentucky rain,
In the cold Kentucky rain

Showed your photograph
To some old gray bearded man
Sitting on a bench
Outside a gen'ral store
They said "Yes, she's been here"
But their memory wasn't clear
Was it yesterday,
No, wait the day before

So I fin'ly got a ride
With a preacher man who asked
"Where you bound on such a cold dark afternoon?"
As we drove on thru the rain
As he listened I explained
And he left me with a prayer
That I'd find you

Kentucky rain keeps pouring down
And up ahead's another town
That I'll go walking thru
With the rain in my shoes,
Searchin for you
In the cold Kentucky rain,
In the cold Kentucky rain

"Riding with Private Malone" by David Ball

I was just out of the service thumbing through the classifieds
when an ad that said old Chevy somehow caught my eye
the lady didn't know the year or even if it ran
but I had that thousand dollars in my hand.

It was way back in the corner of this old ramshackle barn
thirty years of dust and dirt on that green army tarp
when I pulled the cover off it took away my breath
what she'd called a Chevy was a sixty-six Corvette
I felt a little guilty as I counted out the bills
but what a thrill I got when I sat behind the wheel
I opened up the glove box and that's when I found the note
the date was nineteen sixty-six and this is what he wrote

(chorus) He said my name is Pvt. Andrew Malone
if you're reading this then I didn't make it home
but for every dream that's shattered another one comes true
this car was once a dream of mine now it belongs to you
and though you may take her and make her your own
you'll always be riding with Pvt. Malone

Well it didn't take me long at all I had her running good
I love to hear those horses thunder underneath her hood
I had her shining like a diamond and I'd put the rag top down
all the pretty girls would stop and stare as I drove her through town
the buttons on the radio didn't seem to work quite right
but it picked up that oldie show especially late at night
I'd get the feeling sometimes if I turned real quick I'd see
a soldier riding shotgun in the seat right next to me

(chorus) It was a young man named Pvt. Andrew Malone
who fought for his country and never made it home
but for every dream that's shattered another one comes true
this car was once a dream of his back when it was new
he told me to take her and make her my own
and I was proud to be riding with Pvt. Malone

One night it was raining hard I took the curve too fast
I still don't remember much about that fiery crash
someone said they thought they saw a soldier pull me out
they didn't get his name but I know without a doubt

(chorus) It was a young man named Pvt. Andrew Malone
who fought for his country and never made it home
but for every dream that's shattered another one comes true
this car was once a dream of his back when it was new
I know I wouldn't be here if he hadn't tagged along
that night I was riding with Pvt. Malone
oh, thank God I was riding with Pvt. Malone.

"Phantom 309" by Red Sovine

I was out on the West Coast, tryin' to make a
buck
And things didn't work out, I was down on my luck
Got tired a-roamin' and bummin' around
So I started thumbin' back East, toward my home town.

Made a lot of miles, the first two days
And I figured I'd be home in week, if my luck held out this way
But, the third night I got stranded, way out of town
At a cold, lonely crossroads, rain was pourin' down.

I was hungry and freezin', done caught a chill
When the lights of a big semi topped the hill Lord, I sure was glad to hear them air brakes come on
And I climbed in that cab, where I knew it'd be warm.

At the wheel sit a big man, he weighed about two-ten
He stuck out his hand and said with a grin
"Big Joe's the name", I told him mine
And he said: "The name of my rig is Phantom 309."

I asked him why he called his rig such a name
He said: "Son, this old Mack can put 'em all to shame
There ain't a driver, or a rig, a-runnin' any line
Ain't seen nothin' but taillights from Phantom 309."

Well, we rode and talked the better part of the night
When the lights of a truck stop came in sight
He said: "I'm sorry son, this is as far as you go
'Cause, I gotta make a turn, just on up the road."

Well, he tossed me a dime as he pulled her in low
And said: "Have yourself a cup on old Big Joe."
When Joe and his rig roared out in the night
In nothin' flat, he was clean out of sight.

Well, I went inside and ordered me a cup
Told the waiter Big Joe was settin' me up
Aw!, you coulda heard a pin drop, it got deathly quiet
And the waiter's face turned kinda white.

Well, did I say something wrong? I said with a halfway grin
He said: "Naw, this happens every now and then
Ever' driver in here knows Big Joe
But son, let me tell you what happened about ten years ago.

At the crossroads tonight, where you flagged him down
There was a bus load of kids, comin' from town
And they were right in the middle, when Big Joe topped the hill
It could have been slaughter, but he turned his wheel.

Well, Joe lost control, went into a skid
And gave his life to save that bunch-a kids
And there at that crossroads, was the end of the line
For Big Joe and Phantom 309

But, every now and then, some hiker'll come by
And like you, Big Joe'll give 'em a ride
Here, have another cup and forget about the dime
Keep it as a souvenir, from Big Joe and Phantom 309!"

I remember a time when I was small that truck drivers and cb radios and songs like this one were popular. A movie, Convoy, with Kris Kristofferson and Ali McGraw, was made from it. Oh, and Ernest Borgnine, I'll never forget when he's laughing at the end.:)

"Convoy" by C. W. McCall

[Ah, breaker one-nine, this here's the Rubber Duck. You got a copy on me.
Pigpen? C'mon.]
[Ah, yeah, ten-four, Pigpen, for sure, for sure. By golly, it's clean clear to
Flagtown. C'mon.]
[Yeah, that's a big ten-four there, Pigpen. Yeah, we definitely got the front door,
good buddy. Mercy's sakes alive, looks like we got us a convoy]

It was the dark of the moon on the sixth of June
And a Kenworth pullin' logs
Cab-over Pete with a reefer on
And a Jimmy haulin' hogs
We's headin' for bear on Eye-one-oh
'bout a mile outta Shakeytown
I says "Pigpen, this here's Rubber Duck"
"And I'm about to put the hammer down"

('cause we got a little ole convoy rockin' thru the night)
(Yeah, we got a little ole convoy, ain't she a beautiful sight?)
(Come on and join our convoy, ain't nothin' gonna get in our way)
(We gonna roll this truckin' convoy 'cross the USA)
(Convoy)

[Ah, breaker, Pigpen, this here's Duck 'n' you wanna back off them hogs?]
[Ah, ten-four]
[About 5 mile or so]
[Ten roger]
[Them hogs is gettin' INtense up here.]

By the time we got into Tulsa-town we had 85 trucks in all
But they's a roadblock up on the cloverleaf
And them bears 's wall-to-wall
Yeah, them smokeys 's thick as bugs on a bumper
They even had a bear in the air
I says "Callin' all trucks, this here's the Duck"
"We about to go a-huntin' bear"

('cause we got a great big convoy rockin' thru the night)
(Yeah, we got a great big convoy, ain't she a beautiful sight?)
(Come on and join our convoy, ain't nothin' gonna get in our way)
(We gonna roll this truckin' convoy 'cross the USA)
(Convoy)

[Ah, you wanna give me a ten-nine on that, Pigpen? Negatory, Pigpen, you're still
too close. Yeah, them hogs is startin' to close up my sinuses. Mercy's sake, you
better back off another ten]

Well, we rolled up Interstate Forty-Four
Like a rocket-sled on rails
We tore up all of our swindle sheets
And left 'em settin' on the scales
By the time we hit that "Chi-town"
Them bears was a-gettin smart
They brought up some reinforcements
From the "Illinoise" National Guard

There's armored cars and tanks and jeeps
'n' rigs of ev'ry size
Yeah, them chicken coops was full of bears
And choppers filled the skies
Well, we shot the line, we went for broke
With a thousand screamin' trucks
And eleven long-haired friends of Jesus
In a chartreuse microbus

[Ah, Rubber Duck, this 's Sodbuster. C'mon here]
[Yeah, ten-four, Sodbuster. Listen, ya wanna put that microbus in behind that
suicide-jockey?]
[Yeah, he's haulin' dynamite and he needs all the help he can get]

Well, we laid a strip for the Jersey Shore
Prepared to cross the line
I could see the bridge was lined with bears
But I didn't have a doggone dime
I says "Pigpen, this here's the Rubber Duck"
"We just ain't a-gonna pay no toll"
So we crashed the gate doin' ninety-eight
I says "let them truckers roll, ten-four"

('cause we got a mighty convoy rockin' thru the night)
(Yeah, we got a mighty convoy, ain't she a beautiful sight?)
(Come on and join our convoy, ain't nothin' gonna get in our way)
(We gonna roll this truckin' convoy 'cross the USA)
(Convoy)

[Ah, ten-four, Pigpen. What's your twenty? OMAHA? Well, they oughta know
what to do with them hogs out there, for sure. Well, mercy's sakes, good buddy,
we gonna back on outta here, so keep your thumbs off your glass and the bears
off your..tail. We'll catch you on the flip-flop. This here's the Rubber Duck on
the side. We gone. 'bye, 'bye]

"Dancing Queen" by ABBA

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen

Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come in to look for a King
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...

You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen

You're a teaser, you turn 'em on
Leave them burning and then you're gone
Looking out for another, anyone will do
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...

You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen digging the Dancing Queen

Hmmmmm...I'm not doing so well in posting here am I? There just hasn't been too much to say, same old thing going on. I'm not insane yet but my hasband seems to have me on a one way track there.

Let's see...I tried to sleep late on this wonderful day off work. Couldn't do it. Kept having to get up to pee, my back was breaking in half, and I kept hearing Mr. Doom going in and out the squeaky back door. I got up, read a few things, went to the bank, drove through a downpour which knocked out traffic lights and flooded streets, that's always fun, and visited the libbrary where I took my sweet time and came out with a bunch of Robert B. Parker books I want to re-read plus two new, I think, Star Trek books about Spock. Then I cooked supper. Should I nominate it in the most boring day contest?

Hello, hello, trying to get my new journal up and running. While I'm at work, probably a no-no but the place is literally dead this morning And I need to do something to keep me from falling asleep.

Hmmmmm...I see a lot of people have their journal Friends Only but since this one is still virtually empty, and my friends list is curently very slim, I think it'll be okay for a while as it is.

Speaking of friends...if you run across this journal and you are a die hard fan of Star Wars or Supernatural, feel free to friend me. I love to talk about my favorite subjects. I've been a Star Wars fan since I could barely talk and Supernatural is a newer obsession. I like other things too, of course, but those stand out.
