WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Come as you are. There is no dress code for Canton Symphony Orchestra performances. Patrons wear anything from jeans to business attire to formal. We think you should wear whatever you feel comfortable in for a night out!
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?
A pre-concert email is sent to all ticket buyers the day before every event. Please review this for any important information like parking and pre-concert events. Generally, plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the concert start time. This will give you enough time to park, find your seat, look over the program, and relax before the music begins. If you would like, you can arrive up to 1 hour early to experience one of many pre-concert events happening in our lobby, bar or on stage. Drinks & concessions are available for purchase!
I DO NOT KNOW WHEN TO CLAP!
Don’t worry! We like it when the audience claps. It makes us feel like we are doing a good job. Clap when the music ends and you like what you hear! The conductor will ask the audience to hold their applause during a multi-movement work.
HOW LONG WILL THE CONCERT RUN?
Our concerts vary in length depending on the music being performed. Most concerts last between ninety minutes and two hours, including a 20 minute intermission.
WHAT IF I NEED A BREAK?
Foundation Hall is a space to take a break from the concert hall, enjoy a snack or beverage, socialize, all while the concert is being live streamed. Restrooms are located in the McKinley Lobby just outside of Umstattd Hall, at the upper level near the balcony exits, and in Foundation Hall.
HOW LONG IS INTERMISSION?
For Canton Symphony Orchestra performances, intermission generally runs twenty minutes. This may vary for certain kinds of performances. The lights in the lobby will flash shortly before the end of intermission so that you have enough time to return to your seat before the performance resumes. Light concessions are available in the lobby and The Martino Bar remains open during intermission.
BEFORE THE CONCERT
Pre-concert Events: Arrive early to make the most of your experience! Prior to most concerts, we may feature a lecture, performance, or community partnership, which are all free for ticket buyers. Our pre-concert lectures provide a more in-depth look into the music performed that evening and give concertgoers more to listen for during the concert. Pre-concert performances or community partnerships bring more of Stark County together through music, art, interactive demonstrations, info tables, live animals, food trucks and more! Be sure to look for your pre-concert email for details.
The Martino Bar in Foundation Hall: Open to all ticket buyers one hour prior to the performance and throughout the concert. While most of us are NOT mixologists, we feature a full bar including liquor, wine, and beer. Light concessions are sold. Please note, only water may be brought into Umstattd Hall.
The Hoover Family Gallery: This gallery is a space where artists and music come together to bring the auditory world into the visual world. The original home of CSO’s first Artist in Residency partnership from 2021-2023, featuring local Canton artists. Now, you’ll find student artwork from previous years Art Educator of the Year Winner displayed in The Larry & Nancy Hoover Gallery.
Ticket reservations are non refundable. Tickets may be eligible for exchange for another performance if requested at least 24 hours prior to the event by contacting us via phone, leaving a voicemail, or sending email. Inclement weather does not qualify for a refund, all sales are final. Ticket exchanges outside of the series or pricing section may result in additional fees (Example: A ticket exchange from the MasterWorks series to the Pops series). Fundraiser events and The Divergent Sounds Series are excluded from exchanges. Tickets may be donated back to the CSO for a tax deduction. Exchanges and ticket donations only apply to performances within the current season. Performances, programs, dates and times are subject to change. All subscriptions and single tickets are subject to fees that help cover the costs associated with our ticketing software, facility maintenance, parking staff, security personnel, and credit card processing fees.Â
