It could be a keychain; it could be a phone charm. Right now, it's hanging off of my phone.

After seeing a Tumblr post that stuck with me, I managed to find some alphabet beads that matched in color enough to recreate the words. Serendipitously, with three lines, the number of letters matched perfectly, otherwise I was considering sewing the words to fabric stretched on an embroidery hoop.

I think I did a modified square stitch, putting this all together. "Modified", because I think I did it backwards... It's holding together, and I can only hope my knots hold, so I don't drop beads like confetti out of nowhere.

I don't remember sharing these at the time they were made, for some reason.

This Boba Fett was done in 2023 as a gift for my brother. I think it's from pixel art I saw online, but I can't remember who by at this point. Googling it, there are very similar pixels from different people, some reposted and thus anonymous, but I don't know which exactly I used.

Unfortunately, it's not perfectly centered; I maybe should've used a bigger frame, but I think I'd cut my cloth too small, so I couldn't adjust much afterwards...

Back in 2021, I embroidered Ralph as a Star Wars on scrap fabric. Also for my brother. It was practice to see if I could embroider over tracing paper, I think, rather than draw right on the fabric or use a transfer or something. Made a bit of a mess on the back, but I covered it with felt, anyway.

Once upon a time, I saw a post on Pinterest of a crochet memory game where the colors were cookies, and the bag was Cookie Monster. Looking it up specifically, there are a few different versions, but mine seems to be unique, so go me! My cat likes it, too. (Good thing the kid receiving this isn't allergic to cats.)

I used scrap yarn for the colors, just a few rounds, then switched to tan. Making an entirely tan round and attaching the two sides with a final round of single crochets completes the cookie, sans chips, which are just a couple stitches of brown, and I did make an effort to make the chip placement match. They're not perfect, and I doubt a little kid will learn to tell the difference among them so quick, anyway.)

The Cookie Monster bag is rounds of double crochets until I got it the size I wanted. The drawstring, which is simply braided black, white, and blue yarn, is woven into a row of skipped double crochets followed by a last solid row. The black mouth is made very similarly to a circle, but you go back and forth like a flat project, still increasing usual. Both eyes are rounds of double crochet with single crochet black pupils, I think. Maybe just a round of double crochet; I don't remember. Either will work.

The real bear was attaching the eyes somewhat evenly. I had to redo it multiple times.

There are just some beads I'll never use or don't have enough to use for what I'd want, so I made charms for my shoes. I made the gummi bear ones on my boots first, with the intention that they would go on my sneakers, but I did not look at my shoes beforehand. My sneakers have flat, ribbon-style eyelets with flat laces; they're too wide for the typical lobster claw jewelry clasp. (Whoops.) So, they live on my boots with my bats.

I had enough large springring clasps to make all six butterflies, using the bunch of beads I had. These fit around the flat eyelets just fine. 👍

To make these, I used headpins, split rings, and clasps along with the beads and some pliers. I had to cut the headpins, but that's easy; the trick was bending them into a loop that still fit the split ring. The gummi bear ones turned out better than the butterflies, but non of them have nice, round loops. They're all more teardrop shaped...

My mom used to do a lot of wood crafts way back when. These two rabbits got stained (Somehow?! It was orange??) and a little chipped, so I took it upon myself to just repaint them. I didn't want to change their shape any; the unevenness has charm to me.

So I used pretty much an entire can of spray paint covering them and then popped it open to brush paint the edges. I did not know how different spray paint is until then. Even outside the can, don't shake it.

Because I never liked how blank the solid bunny was, I thought I could give it some environment. It would've turned out nicer if I actually knew any technique, but I still think it turned out nice. Kind of regret not trying to keep the same faces, though.

Years ago, I made a towel holder, and it was time to replace it. I had also used a hair elastic to hold the towel, which worked, but it would sometimes twist and tangle and become a nuisance. I told myself I'd get a cheap bangle bracelet to replace the elastic and kept forgetting until a recent craft store trip, where I found a metal ring. The downside to this is it's somewhat heavy; I had to reinforce my stitching to hold the ring securely.

This is 100% cotton yarn with no pattern. I winged it: With a foundation chain that looked long enough, I worked a row of single crochet up and down the chain, as though making an oval. Then I switched colors and made half-double crochets, followed by another color change and reverse crab stitches.

☝️Remember to leave a button hole, because I did not and had to cheat it by manipulating the foundation chain and finding a smaller button.

3/14 Update: I wrapped the ring in cotton yarn. The towell kept sliding off.

I’ve only embroidered text once, and it was using actual cross-stitches. I took this apart four times, all for different reasons.🙄

It’s the best quite from Jurassic Park, a film my mom’s a fan of and watches pretty much whenever it’s on TV. This was for her birthday. (I barely finished in time, but it was better than my usual timing. I impressed myself.)

After the fact, I remembered that the logo is a black figure on a red background, but I think it would’ve been too much red.

My boy Jordy is a big boi, so cat collars look a wee too small and may not even fit him, so I took it upon myself to make him something festive for Christmas and then something a little fancy-ish for New Year's.

He was thrilled, don't let his expression fool you.

I also made one for Kateri, but I finished it after Christmas. It was made following this tutorial by Pawpawcrochets.

Both of Jordy's collars are probably made with medium weight mixed acrylic yarn. Nameless scraps I had on hand. They're inspired by collars I'd seen on Pinterest and browsing Google, but I didn't follow any patterns.

Way back when, the no-sew fleece blankets took off in popularity. I made this one with a rose-printed fleece that I think was remnants; I know it wasn't a kit. I cut it myself. Poorly.

Well, years of use and then many times of rolling over the fringe and stretching out the fleece, I finally got it in my head that I could just crochet around the edges. I actually cut it pretty square! Then I had to order a rotary cutter with a special blade that cuts in increments, making holes for me to crochet around.

It took a while to cut, then it took a while to crochet, because I wasn't sure I liked the color I'd chosen. To make it more cohesive, I added the same green in the body of the blanket and tied them. There's six or so, kinda evenly spaced.

I definitely prefer this to the fringe, which I've untied and kept to reuse as stuffing.
