Stop Now And Plan (SNAP ®)
Stop Now And Plan (SNAP ®) is a proven gender specific cognitive behavioural program designed to help elementary school-aged children with disruptive behavioural problems. It also assists parents and siblings, learn how to stop and think before they act and make better choices “in the moment” thus helping “keep problems small.
CAFCAN is a licensed SNAP ® affiliate site that offers this thirteen (13) week program to Black children ages six (6) to eleven (eleven) who have difficulty with emotion regulation, self-control and are engaging in disruptive behaviour, such as aggressive, rule-breaking and/or have had negative encounters with authority figures at home, school or in the community.
This includes supporting participants to learn self-regulating, cognitive-behavioral strategies and problem-solving skills, specifically through culturally affirming lenses. For at-risk/high-risk parents/caregivers, the program supports the improvement of parent/caregiver-child relationships by teaching effective parenting/caregiving skills.
