Dectina Refrain, Poetry by Sarah

Scatter

Leaves
yellow.
Quivering;
three hearts scatter
stretching long as dreams.
Twirling, dancing, tumbling
like plastic bags in faint breeze.
Clouds in heavy skies; pewter streaks
resting with silent howls among limbs.
Leaves yellow. Quivering; three hearts scatter.

Sunday Stills – 22.9.24

We are celebrating Spring here, in the Southern Hemisphere and I was lucky enough to enjoy a plethora of blooms in this lovely garden last weekend.

But amongst the images of some stunning flowers, I have added a reminder of our swooping friends (the infamous Australian Magpie) who provide constant ‘on guard’ moments when we are out and about (sometimes hilarious to watch 😂 ) as they endeavour to protect their young.

And also, just because it is funny…

Sunday Stills: Celebrate Autumn or Spring

Ovi, Poetry by Sarah

Que Sera?

For every choice, a path unfolds.
In whispers soft, there’s stories told.
But intervened, the fates behold
…what will be will be

A gentle tug, a voice appears.
‘Follow your heart, let courage steer.’
Our decisions shape those who’re near
…what will be will be

Can wrong decisions too, be right?
And can you win, without a fight?
While choices lead us, day by night,
…what will be will be

Ovi Poetry Challenge – decisions

Free Verse, Poetry by Sarah

Forgotten

in the quiet,
freedom feels
like a whisper

it lingers like
an old photograph;
witnessing every
forgotten dream

these roles we play,
deliver lines
in the plan of
our existence

some lessons
…resurrect truths
we’d rather ignore

in the shadows,
liberty wavers;
a distant ideal
revered by those
who can’t touch it

in the quiet,
freedom feels
a mere concept

it’s echo stilled
and promising
to school us
between the lines

as we seek
to rearrange
our messy lives

hopeful streets
conceal forgotten
pathways

and love makes
a tidy prison…

Hindsight

a mistake
a mishap
the clumsiness
of incompetence

a failure
a confusion
in poor planning
(or execution)

a muddle
a foozle
an event
bamboozle

a botch job
a mangle
the failed
fandangle

regardless the
jungle

…it all began with
a bungle

Other, Poetry by Sarah

Befall

I try to be
infallible.

But somehow…

my footfalls
are rockfalls

my shortfall
is downfalls

my windfall’s
a pratfall

my rainfall’s
a waterfall

my landfall
is fallacious

…and in the end
I wind up

crestfallen.
