The BVI International Arbitration Centre (BVI IAC) is delighted to announce that
Dates: 23-27 March, 2026 | Venue: BVI IAC, Tortola
#BVIAW26
BVI Arbitration Week, presented by the BVI International Arbitration Centre (BVI IAC), is a biennial gathering of practitioners, decision-makers, and thought leaders committed to shaping the future of international arbitration.
Guided by this year’s theme, Caribbean Solutions, Global Impact, the conference invites rigorous exploration of the Caribbean’s growing influence as both a seat and source of arbitration excellence. Across a week of focused discussions, the event explores how this region contributes meaningfully to dispute resolution on a global scale.
Set against the natural beauty of the British Virgin Islands, the programme addresses developments in Construction, Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, and Fintech—industries where arbitration plays a critical role in navigating commercial complexity and cross-border risk. Sessions are designed to offer practical insight, regional perspective, and a platform for candid exchange.
The Caribbean’s longstanding legal and economic relationships with North America and Europe continue to evolve alongside deepening ties with Asia and Africa. This shifting landscape has brought new voices and priorities to the arbitration space, and BVI Arbitration Week is an opportunity to engage directly with that momentum.
Alongside its substantive programme, the week creates space for the kind of connections past attendees have described as both lasting and rare in the arbitration world. It’s a space to reflect, connect, and contribute to the conversations shaping the next chapter of international arbitration.
Join thoughtful conversations on real-world issues shaping arbitration today.
1Hear from experienced voices and fresh perspectives from across the globe.
2Connect with peers and experts in a purposeful, well-curated environment.
3Discover how the Caribbean is shaping solutions with global impact.
4All activities held at the BVI IAC in Tortola unless otherwise stated.
This one-day intensive training course is designed for individuals interested in serving on adjudication panels for projects under the Small Contract framework supported by the World Bank and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). The course will provide a practical foundation in adjudication principles, procedures, and best practices, equipping participants with the skills and knowledge required to effectively resolve disputes in infrastructure and development projects across the region.
Facilitator: Shan Greer
Hosted by: Columbia University
The first day of the training introduces participants to the core principles and structure of Dispute Boards (DBs), including their history, function, and the value they bring to dispute avoidance and resolution in construction and infrastructure projects. Delegates will explore the DRBF’s Code of Ethical Conduct, emphasising impartiality, confidentiality, and professional responsibility. The day also covers practical aspects such as conducting effective site visits, organising meetings, and the role of the DB chair. Real-world examples and interactive discussions will provide participants with a clear understanding of how DBs operate in practice.
Facilitator: Jeremy Glover
Hosted by: DRBF and Fenwick Elliott
One $300 payment covers the full two-day training.
Day two focuses on the practical execution of DB responsibilities, including handling claims, managing disputes and referrals, and conducting hearings. Participants will learn how to issue clear, enforceable decisions and will explore techniques for informal assistance and dispute avoidance. The training also includes a deep dive into the use of Dispute Avoidance/Adjudication Boards (DAABs) under the FIDIC 2017 Rainbow Suite and the responsibilities of DB chairs.
The session concludes with a discussion of case studies and best practices, equipping attendees with the knowledge and confidence to serve effectively on dispute boards.
