OPEN CALLS FOR BURIAL BOOKS

  • Open for Horror Articles for Our Website

    • What We Want: We are seeking 500 to 3000 word articles to post on our website. You can send one already completed or send us a proposal. The articles should be about something horror related including, but not limited to, such things as a horror movie review or discussion, a horror product or toy review or discussion, any musings on the horror genre you want to discuss or comment on, any nonfiction article related to the horror genre, horror flash fiction or poetry, and anything that would be considered an article in the horror genre that is entertaining. You could write an article on how bad the newest horror movie was. You could write a short history or analysis of an historical event, production, or person in the horror genre. You could write a philosophical analysis of the treatment of children, plants, or hats in horror movies. We’ll even post creepy flash fiction or poetry. You can write almost anything at all as long as it’s got an element of horror and it’s creative and fun. You can send art with the article for posting as well if you have accompanying artwork. All blogs posted on Burial Books website may be compiled into a book annually called The Blogs of Burial Books. So, you must be cool with this.
    • What We Don’t Want: No porn. No book reviews since we don’t want to hurt any author’s feelings or give them too much praise and make them think they’re God. Absolutely no AI artwork or AI written articles, only humans can be published here.
    • Word Count: Anything at least 500 words and not over 2500 words we will consider.
    • Payment: Authors shall receive a payment of $5 along with a future copy of the annual book if/when it’s published.
    • Rights: First Print and Electronic Publication rights, the non-exclusive rights to include the article in a print or digital book, and a one-year (12) month period of exclusivity from the date of any publication of such a book. This means if we put it in a book, you can’t put it in another book for a year after publication. However, the article shall be exclusively placed on our website and under no conditions can be published anywhere else on the internet while it is published on our website. The website will have exclusive rights to the article for two (2) years after publishing on the website. After that, with thirty (30) days notice, the Author can request it be taken down and can post it somewhere else online. However, it cannot be published anywhere else online by the Author or at the direction of the Author while it’s still on our website. Whew…sorry about that but we can’t have duplicate content from our website somewhere else online or search engines will hurt us and put us in the graveyard of search results. All other rights remain entirely with the author.
    • Other Stuff: You can send your finished article or you can email us what your idea is for the article with a writing sample. If we like it, then we’ll agree for you to write it at that point. We won’t accept anything that is already published online anywhere else. No novel extracts. Only one article (or article idea) submitted at a time by each author. After we accept or deny your article, you can send another one if you like.
    • Submission Deadline: None.
    • How to Submit or Inquire: Email all submissions or proposals to burialbooks@gmail.com with the article attached in Microsoft Word or the proposal included in the body of the email.
