Egypt now moves to create ‘own foreign policy’

While Hillary Clinton and Obama continue to enjoy high marks for “their” foreign policy, nothing is reported in the media about the reality of the failed administration’s policies, especially in the Middle East which is quickly turning into a total disaster. So let’s take a look at Egypt where we are still pouring in billions without any apparent requirements other than we remain chumps for their so-called Arab Spring. Morsi’s new best friends? Iran and China.

Despite the Obama administration’s efforts to put a brave face on the situation, the U.S. relationship with Egypt looks increasingly troubled, as the Muslim Brotherhood government begins to flex its muscles at home and abroad.

The Muslim Brotherhood’s election platform called for a reworked relationship with Washington based on “independence of decision” and an end to “subordination.” (Despite his pro forma resignation from the Islamist group after his election, Morsi essentially heads a Muslim Brotherhood administration.)

After removing veteran defense minister Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi – and as he mulls “reforming” the judiciary amid concerns about eroding media freedom – President Mohamed Morsi in the coming days will turn his attention to foreign policy.

For the first time since his inauguration, Morsi will travel to destinations beyond the immediate region, but he won’t visit Washington – despite a invitation from President Obama, delivered personally by Deputy Secretary of State William Burns last month. Instead, he’ll head for Beijing and Tehran.

His acceptance of Iran’s invitation is a triumph for a regime that sought to insert itself into the Egyptian uprising from the outset, declaring it not a movement for democratic liberalization but an “Islamic awakening,” inspired by Iran’s own Islamic revolution. Iran’s leadership openly supported the Muslim Brotherhood candidate ahead of the presidential election.

Iran: There Will Be War And We Will Be Victorious

Iran talks tough, but our plucky foreign policy savant President has it down. Nothing to worry about. Of course, a lot of these folks don’t mind moving on to see Allah sooner rather than later and would like to take us with them. While Obama fiddles, Iran moves on with its nukes. but the man says Iran is just a “tiny country”. So we keep chattering away. POTUS, you are no John Kennedy.

Just days after the breakdown of talks with the West over Iran’s nuclear program, the deputy chief commander of the Revolutionary Guards announced that there soon will be war — and that Allah will ensure his forces are victorious.

The last round of talks between Iran and the P5+1 (the United States, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany) ended in Moscow last week without any agreement on Iran’s illicit nuclear program.

Gen. Hossein Salami, in a televised interview, boasted that, “Iran has complete control of all the enemy’s interests around the world and is on a path to reach equivalency with world powers.” The commander emphasized that Iran’s nuclear program is irreversible, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

US declassifies military attacks in Yemen, Somalia

Look, I am all for going after the bad guys. But these military actions, undeclared wars that are not discussed with the Americans and Congress are greatly disturbing. So, finally, on a Friday, Obama dumps this story on the AP. I guess now he feels there is some political gain for him, why else. I have been reporting for months about the built up or our forces and treasure throughout Africa.When do assassinations become that as opposed to killing “military combatants”? What Judge and Jury? As defined, “Africa, our last frontier”

Army Times: A brigade of 3,000 US soldiers will be deployed to Africa to battle terrorism and hunger or whatever. I think this about sums it up.

“As far as our mission goes, it’s uncharted territory,” Hogg said from his headquarters in Vicenza, Italy

Though U.S. soldiers have operated in Africa for decades, including more than 1,200 soldiers currently stationed at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, the region in many ways remains the Army’s last frontier.

Roughly 3,000 soldiers — and likely more — are expected to serve tours across the continent in 2013, training foreign militaries and aiding locals.

But “I’m not there to win their wars or settle their differences,” he added. Of course not, just our  blood and treasure.

The White House is partially lifting the lid of secrecy on its counterterrorism campaign against al-Qaida in Yemen and Somalia by formally acknowledging for the first time that it is conducting lethal attacks in those countries.

Under the War Powers Resolution of 1973, the White House is required to report to Congress every six months on U.S. combat operations abroad. Friday’s report includes a secret attachment with classified details, which was not released publicly

The decision by President Barack Obama to declassify the existence of the counterterror actions in those two countries amounts an incremental move toward greater openness about the use of U.S. force overseas. It does not reflect any change in the intensity or basic character of the U.S. campaign to defeat al-Qaida.

The report applies only to U.S. military operations, including those by special operations forces _ not those conducted by the CIA.

In other words, the U.S. Government will now punish anyone who is determined — in the sole discretion of the U.S. Government — even to “indirectly” obstruct the full transition of power to President Hadi. But what if someone — a Yemeni or an American — opposes Hadi’s rule and wants to agitate for a real election in which more than one candidate runs? Is that pure political advocacy, as it appears, now prohibited by the U.S. Government, punishable by serious sanctions, on the ground that it “obstructs” the transition of power to Hadi? Can journalists who report on corruption or violence by the Hadi regime and who write Op-Eds demanding a new election be accused, as it seems, of “threatening Yemen’s political stability”?

As it does with most U.S.-compliant dictators in the region, the Obama administration has since been propping up Hadi with large amounts of money and military assistance, but it is now taking a much more extreme step to ensure he remains entrenched in power — a step that threatens not only basic liberties in Yemen but in the U.S. as well:

3000 U.S. soldiers on their way to Africa

This whole Africa engagement of Obama has had little reporting. Here is a bit of an update. Can you imagine if it was Bush? When is enough enough? Is the military a social service agency? Just what is the purpose would you explain that to me? For the start up of this, check out Obama’s secret war under the U.N. Of course it always starts out with “advisors” now doesn’t it.

Members of the public haven’t heard of PSD-10, but they may have heard of a decision Obama made on October 14, 2011, when he informed Congress that he had authorized “a small number of combat equipped U.S. forces to deploy to central Africa to provide assistance to regional forces that are working toward the removal of Joseph Kony from the battlefield.”

The Army Times reported:A brigade will deploy to Africa next year in a pilot program that assigns brigades on a rotational basis to regions around the globe, the Army announced in May.

Roughly 3,000 soldiers — and likely more — are expected to serve tours across the continent in 2013, training foreign militaries and aiding locals.

As part of a “regionally aligned force concept,” soldiers will live and work among Africans in safe communities approved by the U.S. government, said Maj. Gen. David R. Hogg, head of U.S. Army Africa.

Tours could last a few weeks or months and include multiple missions at different locations, he said.

The Army has not announced which brigade would deploy or where the soldiers would come from.

As the Afghanistan war winds down, the new readiness model affords Army units more time to learn regional cultures and languages and train for specific threats and missions.

Africa, in particular, has emerged as a greater priority for the U.S. government because terrorist groups there have become an increasing threat to U.S. and regional security.

“As far as our mission goes, it’s uncharted territory,” Hogg said from his headquarters in Vicenza, Italy.

But “I’m not there to win their wars or settle their differences,” he added. Of course not, just our  blood and treasure.

Instead, with more soldiers, U.S. Army Africa will continue to strengthen ties with regional militaries and governments by teaching military tactics, medicine and logistics, as well as combating famine, disease and terrorism in secure environments.

Kuwait: “Apostasy Bill” Still Alive in Parliament

Remember when we marched in and saved those sorry folks in Kuwait? We gave lives and treasure to keep them “free” from Iraq. Here is the lesson. We are wasting American lives and our money in thinking the Middle East will not turn on us on a dime. But first we apparently must arm them.

Since Kuwait’s liberation, the United States has provided military and defense technical assistance to Kuwait from both foreign military sales (FMS) and commercial sources. The U.S. Office of Military Cooperation in Kuwait is attached to the American embassy and manages the FMS program. There are currently over 100 open FMS contracts between the U.S. military and the Kuwait Ministry of Defense totaling $8.1 billion. Principal U.S. military systems currently purchased by the Kuwait Defense Forces are Patriot Missile systems, F-18 Hornet fighters, the M1A2 main battle tank, AH-64D Apache helicopter, and a major recapitalization of Kuwait’s Navy with U.S. boats Wikipedia

The bill, which “stipulates that Muslims who are convicted of cursing God, the Qur’an, any of the prophets or the wives of Prophet Mohammad will be punished by death or life in jail,” was just rejected by the emir. But a 2/3 vote in its favor from parliament — where it originated — will make it law.

Kuwaiti emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah has refused to sign a bill passed by parliament stipulating the death penalty for major religious offences, AFP reported Thursday (June 7th).

The government returned the bill to parliament on Wednesday following the emir’s rejection. Al-Sabah has the power to reject bills passed by the elected assembly, but parliament can override the decision by resubmitting the bill with a two-thirds majority among its 49 members and 16 cabinet ministers.

The bill, passed by parliament last month, stipulates that Muslims who are convicted of cursing God, the Qur’an, any of the prophets or the wives of Prophet Mohammad will be punished by death or life in jail.

U.S. buys Russian helicopters for Afghanistan

Let me see if I have this straight. Congress gets wind of this purchase of these helicopters from Russia, but that is not the issue. No, rather it is the “human rights” aspect that Russia is supplying Syria with armaments. No where in the post does anyone question why we would do this. But them it turns out that much of our stimulus money went overseas to create jobs. so why would I think it might be good for the U.S. to supply the helicopters and create jobs here. Best of all, they will contain the latest technology. Just wait until after Obama’s re-election when he will can “be more flexible” as he famously said to them before. Why not let everyone have our latest technology. It fits in nicely with Obama’s point of view. Yes, we are in a bind. Here we go.

The choppers the Pentagon is purchasing for Afghanistan include full Western avionics, navigation, communications and situation-awareness capability. Each complete helicopter package costs $16.4 million, according to Army data.

The Pentagon says it’s in a bind, with nowhere to turn for helicopters needed by Afghanistan’s air force except Russia, a top arms supplier to Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad.

The U.S. Army has a $375 million contract to buy 21 Russian-made MI-17 helicopters for the Afghans from Rosoboronexport, Russia’s state-run arms trader, Pentagon Undersecretary for Policy James Miller said in a previously undisclosed March 30 letter to a lawmaker opposed to the deal.

The U.S. barred transactions with Rosoboronexport from 2006 to 2010, citing its arms sales to nations including Iran and Syria as violating efforts to curb proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The sanctions were lifted in 2010, coinciding with Russia’s support of a U.N. resolution expressing concern over Iran’s nuclear program, according to the Congressional Research Service.

‘Subsidizing Mass Murder’

Cornyn was one of 17 senators, including Democrats Ron Wyden of Oregon, Richard Durbin of Illinois and Benjamin Cardin of Maryland, who wrote Defense Secretary Leon Panetta March 12 criticizing the helicopter purchases.

U.S. taxpayers “should not be put in the position where they are indirectly subsidizing the mass murder of Syrian civilians,” they said. From Bloomberg

Anti-Israel Samantha Power to Head New Atrocities Prevention Board

One thing is clear: The sudden emergence of Obama’s National Security Council Advisor, Samantha Power, and the “new theory” she is using as justification for action in Libya, has very serious implications for future military action against Israel. As John Podhoretz explains in the New York Post, the “reason” behind the Libyan military strike is not the traditional justification of “protecting the national interest.” It is a “new” standard called “R2P” or “right to protect.” This concept is being promulgated by the “one-world” order activists at the United Nations, like Samantha Power.

Now we find she has gotten a promotion. Clearly, she is no friend of Israel. This will pave the way for “redistribution” of billions of dollars to Palestine. The news of this appointment? Crickets chirping. Here we go, including video.

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has opposed the appointment of Samantha Power, a government adviser who has made hostile and baseless anti-Israel statements, heading the newly created Atrocities Prevention Board (APB). The APB is intended to “coordinate action across the entire government on stopping genocide and liaise with the NGO community

In short, Ms. Power repeated the classic anti-Semitic canard that the U.S. supports Israel against morality and self-interest because of Jewish voting power, rather than because Israel enjoys the overwhelming support of the American people. Ms. Power also accused Israel of “major human rights abuses.” She also has advocated the ending of all aid to Israel and redirecting it to the Palestinians. ‘Occupy’ CPAC protesters paid $60.00 by Union

Protesters at Friday’s “Occupy CPAC” event, organized by AFL-CIO and the Occupy DC movement, told The Daily Caller that they were paid “sixty bucks a head” to protest outside the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.

One protester told TheDC that all the “Occupy” activists were being paid to protest, and that his union, Sheet Metal Workers Local 100, approached him about the money-making opportunity.

“I have nothing nice to say about Local 100. … They just told me ‘you wanna make sixty bucks? So c’mon,’” the protester said.

Other “Occupy CPAC” protesters were unwilling to speak on camera because they were unaware what they were protesting and what the CPAC event was about.
