Obama’s wacko Libyan policy. Attacks UAE and EGYPT for trying to save Tripoli

It took two foreign sources to demonstrate this inane U.S. policy in Libya. First we have the fall of Tripoli. Of course to these animal primitives Islamic whatever. Obama was determined for the Muslim Brotherhood come into power. But it now gets worse. We do nothing. So UAE and Egypt take it upon themselves to try to rid Libya of these terrorists because they are bright enough to figure out they are coming their way next and wait, don’t we want the advancement of ISIS to stop? So pick up the next story  in which the U.S. and Europe condemns “outside interference”. Try and make sense of this one. Was it because Lurch was not told or involved?

UAE and Egypt behind bombing raids against Libyan militias, say US officials

US officials have claimed the United Arab Emirates and Egypt were behind several air strikes on Islamist militias in Libya last week, in what would be an escalation of a regional power-play between Islamists and opposing governments across the Middle East.

UAE pilots flying out of Egyptian airbases allegedly twice targeted Islamist fighters vying to take control of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, last week, several US officials claimed to the New York Times, and later to the AFP news agency. Speaking to the Guardian, a US official confirmed the reports were plausible.

The air strikes failed to stop Islamist militias from capturing Tripoli later in the week, announcing a new breakaway regime and forcing Libya’s elected government to flee to the eastern city of Tobruk.

US, Europe condemn Libya violence  -ED: Funny, I didn’t see this in the MSM

The United States and European allies have issued a warning on Libya, condemning the ‘escalation’ in violence there while cautioning against outside meddling. The group of nations called for an immediate ceasefire.

The statement, signed by the governments of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States, warned that outside interference in Libya would worsen divisions and slow down any hope of a democratic transition in the country. (Chuckle time.)

The New York Times, citing unnamed American officials, reported that neighboring Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have launched airstrikes against Islamists in Libya twice over the past week.

The US and EU governments “strongly condemn the escalation of fighting and violence in and around Tripoli, Benghazi, and across Libya, especially against residential areas, public facilities, and critical infrastructure, by both land attack and airstrikes,” the statement said.

Local media said members of the old General National Congress had agreed to reconvene at the behest of Islamist militias from the western city of Misrata, who seized control of Tripoli’s airport from rivals fighters from Zintan on Saturday.

The Islamist militias have attempted to tighten their grip on power in the capital after claiming the airport and forcing rivals to withdraw. The fighting began after the June elections, in which Islamist candidates lost the parliament, and renegade general Khalifa Hifter began a military campaign against Islamist-allied militias in Libya’s second-largest city, Benghazi.

Tripoli about to fall, U.S. embassy ready to be evacuated

Tripoli, Libya (CNN) — The U.S. military has doubled the number of aircraft standing by in Italy if needed to evacuate Americans from the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli, Libya, CNN has learned.

Thanks for the memory Hillary. Just a few reminders of your wizardy as Secretary of State. Who didn’t see this coming?

A decision to evacuate as violence in the Libyan capital grows is “minute by minute, hour by hour,” a defense official told CNN on Monday.

Fierce fighting swept across the city Sunday after armed men stormed the country’s interim Parliament. Sporadic bursts of gunfire and blasts could still be heard on the outskirts of the capital Monday evening.

The violence appeared to be some of the worst since the 2011 revolution that ousted longtime leader Moammar Gadhafi

Meanwhile, the Saudi ambassador to Libya announced that his country’s embassy and consulate in Tripoli closed Monday because of the violence, and the staff has left Tripoli, according to the official Saudi Press Agency. The sites will reopen when the situation stabilizes, Ambassador Mohammed Mahmoud Al-Ali said, according to the report.

Turkey took similar measures, shutting down its consulate in Benghazi, Turkey’s semi-official Anadolu news agency reported.

U.S. aircraft arrive in Italy

Four additional U.S. V-22 Osprey aircraft “arrived overnight” at the naval base in Sigonella, Italy, to join four V-22s and 200 Marines that had been moved there last week, a U.S. defense source said.

Libya’s “future leaders” to be trained in London

So much for the “Western” influence on Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s son Saif al-Islam. Doug Stewart over at Ameristroika found a very different picture of this peace-loving radical. How much longer are we going to load up our Universities in the U.S. with these folks?

The London School of Economics struck a deal to train hundreds of “future leaders” of Libya, according to leaked diplomatic cables.

The LSE’s links with the regime have faced scrutiny following a pledge of £1.5million from Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s son Saif al-Islam, a former student at the LSE and one of its most generous benefactors.

The cables, which record a briefing for US diplomats by the Libyan National Economic Development Board (NEDB), state: “The NEDB is co-operating with the UK Government and the London School of Economics (Saif al-Islam al-Gaddafi’s alma mater), among other UK institutions, on an exchange programme to send 400 ‘future leaders’ of Libya for leadership and management training. Eventually, [an official of NEDB] explained, 250 additional Libyan ‘future leaders’ would also be trained in Libya.”

The university has received £300,000 from the dictator’s son which it has since promised to put towards a scholarship fund for North African students.

The LSE also confirmed it was investigating claims that Col Gaddafi’s son plagiarised his PhD thesis. Telegraph UK

Saif Gaddafi Video Shows Polar Opposite of Image Projected Through Media

Calling the protesters “nothing” and referring to them as “bums, brats, and druggies” Saif al Islam vows to return with more weapons so that they can sweep Tripoli clean of protesters. Gaddafi also hints at having them equipped in police gear and entering the protests undercover (very Cass Sunstein of him). Click on bottom of vid for translation.
