Acorn Replanted – Former Leader, Bertha Lewis Back In The Game

Here is the headline:

Dem NYC Mayoral Candidate Thanks Ex-ACORN Chief Bertha Lewis’ New Group For Helping Him Win Primary, Lewis Rants, “We’re Baacccck, The Right Wing Will Have To Deal With It”…

de Blasio, will turn New York City into a Marxist state. Good luck New York. He is otherwise known as, drum roll please :

The candidate’s official biography is that Bill de Blasio is his third legal  name.

The man who could become the city’s 109th mayor was born Warren Wilhelm Jr.  on May 8, 1961, in Manhattan, his birth certificate shows.

In 1983, fresh out of New York University, he petitioned a Manhattan judge  to formally change his name to Warren de Blasio-Wilhelm, according to legal  records.

And in December 2001 he petitioned a judge in Brooklyn to formally change  his name again, this time to Bill de Blasio.

Via NY Post:

ACORN’s former leader is back on top.

Bertha Lewis played critical behind-the-scenes roles in the victorious Democratic primary campaigns of both Bill de Blasio for mayor and Kenneth Thompson for Brooklyn district attorney, The Post has learned.

“We’re baacccck. The right wing will have to deal with it,” Lewis chuckled.

Lewis, a co-founder of the Working Families Party, was an early backer and adviser to de Blasio.

ACORN’s successor group, New York Communities for Change, endorsed de Blasio for mayor in early spring, and a Lewis protegé, NYCC field director Harold Miller, helped run de Blasio’s field operation.

So it was no surprise that Lewis stood behind de Blasio during his primary night victory speech last Tuesday.

Or that de Blasio tweeted, “Thanks to nychange members for coming out tonight!”

Lewis said she played an even larger role for Ken Thompson, who toppled longtime Brooklyn DA Charles “Joe” Hynes.

I picked up this video below from a Fox interview this morning. Bertha Lewis and her hateful rhetoric that is embraced by the next NYC Mayor. Kiss the city good-bye. The interview gives us a glimpse into the so-called “regionalism” that will be embraced. You know the drill. The suburbs kick into the city. We who live in the suburbs are kicked back into the cities to live. Good Luck NYC.

Obama on MLK day 2002 ‘Does non-violence make sense?’

All that can be said is the man is consistent. It has been class warfare since day one.

I don’t  know if you’ve noticed, but rich people are all for non-violence. Why wouldn’t they be? They’ve got what they want. They want to make sure nobody’s going to take their stuff!

In a speech given just a over a decade ago, President Obama said Martin Luther King’s philosophy of nonviolence “only makes sense” if the rich have sufficient empathy for the poor and the “powerless” are able to see a chance to become like those he says are running society.

Speaking on Martin Luther King Day in 2002 at a church in Chicago, then-State Senator Obama charged there was an “empathy deficit” in America resulting in a failure of the rich to correct society’s inequities. Here is a transcript of the video below:

The philosophy of non-violence only makes sense if the powerful can be made to recognize themselves in the powerless. It only makes sense if the powerless can be made to recognize themselves in the powerful.

You know, the principle of empathy gives broader meaning, by the way, to Dr. King’s philosophy of non-violence. I don’t  know if you’ve noticed, but rich people are all for non-violence. Why wouldn’t they be? They’ve got what they want. They want to make sure nobody’s going to take their stuff!

The well off, Obama suggests, are in fact practicing their own form of violence against the poor through a kind of economic oppression.

But the principle of empathy recognizes that there are more subtle forms of violence to which we are answerable. The spirit of empathy condemns not only the use of fire hoses and attack dogs to keep people down but also accountants and tax loopholes to keep people down.

I’m not saying that what Enron executives did to their employees is the moral equivalent of what Bull Connor did to black folks but, I tell you what, the employees of Enron feel violated. When a company town  sees some distant executives made some decisions despite the wage concessions, despite the tax breaks, and they see their entire economy collapses, they feel violence.

And the class warfare talk never ends.

What Obama really thought about the Clinton years. Quote: “Among African American males, one third to one fourth caught up in the criminal justice system, so that the number of young men incarcerated exceeded the number enrolled in colleges and universities. Throughout the nation inequality up, trust in mutuality down . . . the evidence was there if we cared to look.”

Obama on empathy, the powerful, and the prison industrial complex. Quote: “It’s hard to imagine that the powerful in our society would tolerate the burgeoning prison industrial complex if they imagined that the black men and Latino men that are being imprisoned were something like their sons.”

Local funding of schools is “fundamentally unjust.” Quote: “And Illinois, like many states in the country, has an education system that is funded  by property taxes. It is fundamentally unjust. So you have folks up in Winnetka, pupils who are getting five times as much money per student as students in the South Side of Chicago.”

His usual class warfare drivel, no surprise, but just in case anyone still wonders about the man.

Police force homeowner to give up house to them -third amendment case

If you have not caught this story, its worthy of your taking the read. As we ponder what move our regime will take next in reducing our Constitution to worthless paper, the third Amendment gets a workout with this story. No doubt the family would have been better off chosing a better Amendment such as the fourth, either way, looks like for the first time this one will get adjudicated by the claimants. The basic story is that the police wanted to use the house to stake out their neighbor. Not wanting to get involved they refused. You can guess the answer. In a horrendous tale, you can guess who got pepper sprayed and ended up in jail.  Here we go:

The most obvious obstacle to winning a Third Amendment claim here is that police arguably do not qualify as “soldiers.” On the other hand, as Radley Balko describes in his excellent new book The Rise of the Warrior Cop, many police departments are increasingly using military-style tactics and equipment, often including the aggressive use of force against innocent people who get in the way of their plans. If the plaintiffs’ complaint is accurate, this appears to be an example of that trend. In jurisdictions where the police have become increasingly militarized, perhaps the courts should treat them as “soldiers” for Third Amendment purposes.

The Third Amendment, which forbids the “quarter[ing]” of “soldiers” in private homes in peacetime without the owner’s consent, is often the butt of jokes among lawyers, because it generates so little litigation. But the Amendment has come up in this ongoing Nevada case, along with the Fourth Amendment and state law claims

Henderson [Nevada] police arrested a family for refusing to let officers use their homes as lookouts for a domestic violence investigation of their neighbors, the family claims in court.
Anthony Mitchell and his parents Michael and Linda Mitchell sued the City of Henderson, its Police Chief Jutta Chambers, Officers Garret Poiner, Ronald Feola, Ramona Walls, Angela Walker, and Christopher Worley, and City of North Las Vegas and its Police Chief Joseph Chronister, in Federal Court…. Perhaps just as interesting is this site that claims to have the info and pics on the cops who were involved in the alleged incident at Home Invader Blowback. Somehow the cops don’t appear to be our finest.

Labor Dept.on payments to labor unions worldwide

Senate Republicans say the Labor Department appears to be spending millions  in taxpayer dollars to establish labor unions and promote collective bargaining  in foreign countries and are asking top Obama administration officials for a  full audit.

The purported activities were conducted by the agency’s Bureau of  International Labor Affairs.

The bureau for the past several years has purportedly made numerous awards —  worth millions of dollars — to the United Nations, the Solidarity Center and  other similar groups, “whose stated objective is to help establish labor unions  in foreign countries,” the senators said.

The bureau’s stated mission is to “help ensure that workers around the world are  treated fairly and are able to share in the benefits of the global  economy.”

When I caught this story, an old post of mine came to mind. In the heat of the Acorn scandals which was a headliner for months, I recalled that Wade Rathke, founder of ACORN had moved on to India of all places. Acorn Alive and Well- Moving World-Wide

…[Wade] Rathke, who left the US ACORN group in 2008, focuses now on a separate organization he founded named ACORN International. The group has members in nine countries, including India, and focuses on the billion or so people who live in mega-slums.

So now we know where ACORN is getting its funding. From us. Recall Wade Rathke?

  • Founder and former Chief Organizer of ACORN, a nationwide activist network engaged in “community organizing” and in voter mobilization drives for George Soros’ Shadow Party
  • Former draft-resistance activist for the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS)
  • Former activist in the National Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO) and protegé of its founder George A. Wiley
  • Co-founder of the Tides Foundation, along with Drummond Pike. Currently serves as Board Chairman of the Tides Center and member of the Tides Foundation Board of Directors
  • Founded Local 100 of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in New Orleans and heads it to this day. Rathke is president and co-founder of SEIU’s Southern Conference and a member of SEIU’s national executive board. He also helped launch the United Labor Union (ULU), which organizes low-skill service workers.
  • Rathke chairs the AFL-CIO’s Organizers Forum and formerly served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Greater New Orleans AFL-CIO.

“At a time when our federal budget is deteriorating rapidly … it is troubling  to us that the department appears to be spending millions of dollars of taxpayer  funds to establish labor unions and promote collective bargaining in foreign  countries,” they said in a letter to acting Labor Secretary Seth Harris

Cass Sunstein on Bell and ending white supremacy UPDATE

I know I am no doubt beating a horse that we already believe is true, still when these glimpses into the past are presented to us, I believe it merits repeating. Most of us know about the Bell  kerfuffle. Bell was one of Obama’s pals apparently. Here is a bit of more insight.Cass Sunstein is one of the most despicable characters in the WH.

UPDATE  Breitbart

Bell, via Kagan, on Critical Race

Theory: The Constitution Is the Problem

: In November 1985, the Harvard Law Review published an article by Derrick Bell that was a “classic” in the development of Critical Race Theory. The article was edited by then-student Elena Kagan, and was cited by Prof. Charles Ogletree in support of her nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court by President Barack Obama in 2010. The article makes clear that Critical Race Theory sees the U.S. Constitution as a form of “original sin”–a view later embraced by Obama as a state legislator, and reflected in his actions and appointments.  Full story over at UPDATE  Breitbart

Charles Ogletree not only was a black panther. He is also the lawyer of Henry Louis Gates, who’s racism caused the beer summit. Ogletree’s daughter Rashida was recently hired into Holder’s Justice Department as a lawyer. Ogletree is still a militant leftist and is still called on by the Obamas for advice. H/T: Pat Dollard

Now:

Cass Sunstein: Derrick Bell Wanted To End America’s White Supremacy

In his view, Brown (desegregation case) has been not merely a disappointment but a grotesque failure. Bell connects that failure to a more general claim about “interest convergence.” America makes progress toward racial equality, he thinks, only when such progress is in the interest of whites.
Cass Sunstein is the Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs in the Obama administration.

In a 2004 item in The New Yorker we find this.

Did Brown Matter?

On the fiftieth anniversary of the fabled desegregation case, not everyone is celebrating.

By Cass R. Sunstein MAY 3, 2004

Both Bell and Ogletree argue forcefully that Brown should be understood to require not color blindness but an end to white supremacy and the subordination of African-Americans. H/T: Riehlworldview

Frances Fox Piven: ‘Time to scare the banks’

Ms. Piven is basking in her new refound fame. I have been picking up bits and pieces that she is in high demand on college campuses. Most everyone by now has heard of the Cloward-Piven theory which brough her to light. I wondered why Obama was so happy to take over the Student Loans from banks. It was one of his first crowning achievements. Now we hear from Piven that the push no doubt will be for massive non-payment, as well as attacks on banks. First a bit of a refresher of how she wishes to take the system down, then the video.

Ms Piven:

“So where are the angry crowds, the demonstrations, sit-ins and unruly mobs?” she writes. “After all, the injustice is apparent. Working people are losing their homes and their pensions while robber-baron CEOs report renewed profits and windfall bonuses. Shouldn’t the unemployed be on the march? Why aren’t they demanding enhanced safety net protections and big initiatives to generate jobs?”  Piven’s recent Nation editorial calling for a mass movement of the unemployed [“Mobilizing the Jobless,”

Frances Fox Piven talks about the Occupy movement and disruption of the status quo, attacks from the Right, Glenn Beck, and her “honorable” response.

Patriot Groups marked as Hate Groups by Southern Poverty Law Center

Southern Povert Law Center  has a report onThe Patriot Movement and how they inspire Hate Groups and Militias. If you feel so inclined you can read the full report here. I am sure Eric Holder will be more than happy to have the FBI check them out. Of course, after they get done with the NYPD for sliding over into NJ and checking out the Muslims. If this riles you up, you may want to check out Conservative on fire’s post  I am a right wing radical and proud of it

This is the full list of Patriot Groups as compiled by the SPLC. Note that they are listed by state so some are listed multiple times. Like Oath Keepers.

The Southern Poverty Law Center identified 1274 anti-government “Patriot” groups that were active in 2011. Of these groups, 334 were militias, marked with an asterisk, and the remainder includes “common-law” courts, publishers, ministries and citizens’ groups.

Generally, Patriot groups define themselves as opposed to the “New World Order,” engage in groundless conspiracy theorizing, or advocate or adhere to extreme antigovernment doctrines. Listing here does not imply that the groups themselves advocate or engage in violence or other criminal activities, or are racist.

H/T: goes to Infidel Bloggers Alliance for this find, which ia a great site, and has more. You do need to scroll down a bit on their home page

Oath Keepers? Really? A group dedicated to upholding the Oath they took to support and defend America is a potential threat?

If you belong to or support any of these groups you are considered a possible threat to the republic and bear more scrutiny than someone like Jeremiah Wright or Derrick Bell.  Full list here: Southern Povert Law Center

Libtalker Malloy mocks Christian tornado victims

Where is the outrage? Where is the calling for his dismissal? Mike Malloy of course is from the Liberal Loonies.

With all the talk of holding radio talk show hosts accountable lately, it’s probably worth bringing you what liberal firebrand Mike Malloy said last week as storms ravaged the South. According to a clip from his March 2 show, it seems the storms are God’s way of getting back…

“Their God … keeps smashing them into little grease spots on the pavement in  Alabama, and Mississippi, and Arkansas, and Georgia, and Oklahoma,” Malloy says in his broadcast from Friday. “You know, the Bible belt, where [in a mocking voice] they ain’t gonna let no goddamned science get in the way

That’s why the latest manufactured OUTRAGE (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) from our “progressive” friends rings hollow. If subjected to the same standard applied to Rush Limbaugh this week, not one libtalker would still be on their air. Instead, two of the most hateful spent today celebrating a new cable talk deal.H/T: Radio Equalizer

Occupy Wall Street and the “Theory of Limited Good’

During my Anthropology studies, I became acquainted with the theory of “limited Good”. The concept was novel to me, no doubt, because of my youth. But it is fascinating in its explanation of why Capitalism comes under attack, and why Communism has so much appeal.  If we move away from this primitive concept that there is only “so much” to go around, and bring to bear the concept that  rather than limited wealth, there is unlimited potential for wealth, we may be able to end class warfare. Keep in mind that Over 23% of all the goods and services made since 1AD were produced from 2001 to 2010.”  A rising tide can indeed lift all boats.

The term limited good is a concept from anthropology describing the theory commonly held in traditional societies, that there is a limited amount of “good” to go around. In other words, the amount of good luck, money, etc. available is held to be finite, so every time one person profits, another loses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limited_good

Redistribution of accumulated wealth may be necessary to keep the peace in tribal and feudal villages. However, the social stigma against accumulation of wealth can be detrimental to economic development when a society is capable of increasing the level of per capita production. Unfortunately, the Theory of Limited Good continues to be a very powerful myth in modernizing societies, and is often the prevailing paradigm in countries just beginning the development process.

The term was coined by George M. Foster in his 1965 article, Peasant Society and the Image of Limited Good, “American Anthropologist.” The concept has been described by Allen as the rural counterpart of the culture of poverty. The Mexican peasants (in Tzintzuntzan, Michoacán) Foster studied were seen by him to lack interest in new opportunities because of their perception of the world as a “competitive game.” This led to a high level of distrust and envy and fragile and constantly shifting patterns of alignment. [1]  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limited_good  From 2000 years of History, a great time to live

The chart below is from The Economist and shows a “population-weighted history of the past two millennia” based on “economic output” and “years lived.”  According to The Economist:

Over 23% of all the goods and services made since 1AD were produced from 2001 to 2010.”

MP: It also looks like more economic output was produced in the 20th century than in the previous 19 centuries combined

Here is a wonderful piece on “limited good” fromThe Logical Middle. The full post is long, but is well worth the time. He goes on to explain why we had the economic explosion in the last centuries:

The amount of goods on this earth appeared to be strictly limited. One tribe could garner a larger amount of goods only by taking it away from some other tribe; one group or family in a community could improve their position only by appropriating resources from, or enslaving, other groups or families. Feudal societies existed in Europe and Asia for centuries with no perceptible long-term change in the per capita level of living from generation to generation. The share of the population that was relatively well-off—mostly the nobility, military, priesthood, and a small cadre of artisans and tradesmen—was always limited to about ten percent of the total because it was not possible to extract a larger share of the food supply from the majority peasant farmer population through tribute or taxation. Peasant farmers in feudal societies, and people in hunter-gatherer societies, had little incentive to produce more food than they could consume when there was very little of value that could be obtained for that food through trade. In feudal and tribal societies, the vast majority of people had no reason to even consider increasing production above that required to maintain life. The amount of goods on this earth appeared to be strictly limited. One tribe could garner a larger amount of goods only by taking it away from some other tribe; one group or family in a community could improve their position only by appropriating resources from, or enslaving, other groups or families.More at The Logical Middle
