State Depart: ‘ISIS problem is poverty, no jobs’

Here is the latest from one of the two Valley girls over at the State Department, Marie Harf.  Clueless. If this indeed represents the regime’s thinking, and I have no reason to think it doesn’t, we are indeed lost. . Chris Mathews for once didn’t have his tingle. All we need to do is redistribute more of our stuff. I am sure this would have worked out swell during WWII. Here is part of the interview.

State Department Spokesperson Marie Harf told Chris Matthews tonight that we cannot win this war with ISIS by killing them. She said we have to get to the root cause of why people are attracted to Jihad — you know like poverty, jobs, etc…

“We’re killing a lot of them and we’re going to keep killing more of them. So are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians. They’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war. We need in the medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs…”

MATTHEWS: How do we stop this? I don’t see it. I see the Shia militias coming out of Baghdad who are all Shia. The Sunnis hate them. The Sunnis are loyal to ISIS rather than going in with the Shia. You’ve got the Kurds, the Jordanian air force and now the Egyptian air force. But i don’t see any — If i were ISIS, I wouldn’t be afraid right now. I can figure there is no existential threat to these people. They can keep finding places where they can hold executions and putting the camera work together, getting their props ready and killing people for show. And nothing we do right now seems to be directed at stopping this.

HARF: Well, I think there’s a few stages here. Right now what we’re doing is trying to take their leaders and their fighters off the battlefield in Iraq and Syria. That’s really where they flourish.

MATTHEWS: Are we killing enough of them?
MATTHEWS: We’re not going to be able to stop that in our lifetime or fifty lifetimes. There’s always going to be poor people. There’s always going to be poor muslims, and as long as there are poor Muslims, the trumpet’s blowing and they’ll join. We can’t stop that, can we?

HARF: We can work with countries around the world to help improve their governance. We can help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people…

U.N. returns Bombs found to terrorists, Kerry rewards Palestine with our bucks

Here we have the latest from one of the “valley Girls” Marie Harf, State Department spokesperson. Bottom line, Lurch AKA John Kerry hands out our bucks to the same agency that is returning rockets it found in Palestine schools back to the terrorists, but not to worry, Lurch managed to fly into Israel even though the FAA banned flights. So the squeeze is on. Israel can’t last long without the airport open, and apparently we will help fill the coffers of Hamas. UNRWA arms the terrorists. The screws tighten on Israel.

WASHINGTON — The State Department defended Secretary of State John Kerry’s decision to grant $15 million in humanitarian aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNWRA), even as the organization confirmed the discovery of additional rockets stored in one of its Gaza schools. Critics in Washington, however, blasted the secretary’s decision to include UNRWA as a recipient of part of a $47 million humanitarian package designed to aid Gazan civilians. […]

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a senior official at a Washington pro-Israel organization described the announcement of funding for UNRWA as “a bewildering decision.” UNRWA announced last week an effort to raise $60 million in emergency aid to Gaza, one-quarter of which would be covered by the US contribution.

“UNRWA is objectively on the side of Hamas,” the official argued. “They give Hamas money, they do press work on behalf of Hamas, and as of this week they’re literally arming Hamas. Our Arab and Israeli allies all want Hamas and its supporters weakened. It’s very strange that the State Department would rush in, right when we’re asking the region to trust us on Iran, and functionally throw money at a terror organization that Iran has done so much to build up over the years.”

But State Department Deputy Spokeswoman Marie Harf said that the organization was a legitimate recipient for US aid, arguing that “it is an important organization.”

“So you don’t — you don’t believe that this amounts to aiding and abetting of” Hamas, a reporter asked.

“I would certainly not say that,” Harf said.

UNRWA maintains that it handed the missiles over to “local authorities” in Gaza that were not affiliated with Hamas. However, this is unlikely since the terror group is in control of all forces in Gaza.

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf defended a United Nations agency that was caught giving Hamas rockets back to the terror group on two separate occasions after they were discovered in the agency’s schools in Gaza.

The U.N.’s Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which operates several schools in Gaza, admitted earlier this week that it had found Hamas rockets stored in two of its schools. On both occasions, UNRWA gave the rockets over to local authorities, who is most cases operate in tandem with Hamas.

The incident has drawn fierce backlash from international observers, though Foggy Bottom sought Tuesday to deflect blame from UNRWA.

State Department ‘No evidence Hamas plays any roll in Palestinian Government’

But then again, the State Department doesn’t know anything about China’s Hypersonic Missile Test either. Good news, no one home for the 3:00 am phone call. Apparently not for any phone call. As Hamas blasts away at Israel.

Hey Jan, here is a heads up:

Via Guardian: Palestinian unity government of Fatah and Hamas sworn in

….The new government will reunite Gaza and the West Bank under a single political authority for the first time since 2007, when Hamas – which won Palestinian legislative elections in 2006 – asserted control over the Gaza Strip, forcing out Fatah….

Psaki must’ve missed this article.

How else to explain this exchange, from yesterday?

Via Free Beacon: State Dept: ‘No Evidence That Hamas Plays Any Role’ in Palestinian Government

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki claimed again Tuesday that “no evidence” existed that the terrorist organization Hamas “plays any role” in the Palestinian government.

A reporter asked Psaki if President Mahmoud Abbas bore any blame for the current fighting between Israel and Hamas, saying, “at one point, yes, it was a conflict between just the U.S. and Hamas, and Abbas had no real kind of skin in the game, because it was between the two parties even though it was affecting the Palestinian people directly. But now, he’s part of a unity government and has some influence with Hamas now, wouldn’t you say?”

” Well, we have no evidence that Hamas plays any role in the interim technocratic government, and as far as we know, there have also been no steps taken for the implementation of the reconciliation,” Psaki said…

Bonus time. Just to get the old laugh-o-meter rolling. Note the laughter from the journalist. From Deputy Spokesperson, Marie Harf who knows nothing about nothing:

Marie Harf on China’s Hypersonic Missile Test

Marie- here is a head’s up as well.

China has successfully tested its first hypersonic missile delivery vehicle capable of penetrating US missile defense system and delivering nuclear warheads with record breaking speeds, Pentagon officials have confirmed.

The new hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV), dubbed the WU-14 was allegedly spotted flying at record-breaking speeds during a flight test over China on January 9, an anonymous Pentagon official told the Washington Free Beacon.

The new weapon delivery system is reportedly designed to be launched as the final stage of China’s intercontinental ballistic missile, which would approach its target at a velocity of up to 10 times the speed of sound. Hypersonic speed range lies between Mach 5 and Mach 10, or 3,840 to 7,680 miles per hour.

The Chinese are “actively seeking global military power to challenge the United States, and it is not yet in any mood to talk, or engage in arms control, about it,” Fisher said.

In May, the Pentagon’s assessment of Chinese capabilities suggested that China built the world’s largest shockwave hypersonic wind tunnel capable of generating test flying conditions of up to Mach 9 speeds.

Two Chinese technical papers from December 2012 and April 2013 revealed that the country is developing precision guidance systems designed to be directed via satellite. The second Chinese paper concluded that hypersonic weapons pose “a new aerospace threat.”

State Department: Those who served with Bergdahl don’t know what they’re talking about

I happened to catch the State Department presser yesterday. If we thought that the comment regarding Benghazi, “Hey dude, that was a couple of years ago,” showed the snarky attitude, try this one on for size. These drones just reflect the arrogance of this regime.

Free Beacon

State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf engaged in a heated exchange Tuesday with a reporter over the circumstances surrounding Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl’s capture five years ago, saying she does not think his squad mates have the best idea of what happened when he disappeared.

When Fox News reporter Lucas Tomlinson asked, “Does the State Department consider Sergeant Bergdahl to be a deserter?” Harf replied, “The State Department — no, Lucas. Look, what we’ve said is we are going to learn the facts about what happened here.”

“He’s been in captivity, Lucas. I think he’s probably the person who knows best what happened on that night,” Harf said.

Tomlinson shot back, “Well, I think his squad mates have the best indication what happened that night.”

“I don’t think that that’s the case,” Harf responded.

State Department Warns Congress Not to ‘Derail’ Iran Diplomacy

What universe does our State Dept live in? While looking for the clip of our gal Harf who gives the inside view as spokesperson for the States Dept, I found this clip while looking for the even more bizarre comments as to why perhaps one of Iran’s hostage takers of our citizens should be allowed to come to the U.S. as Ambassador to the United Nations. We sure let the world stick it to us these days, don’t we.

Published on Jan 14, 2014

State Department Deputy Spokeswoman Marie Harf told the press Monday that Congress “shouldn’t take any steps” to exacerbate the “very delicate diplomatic situation” with Iran.

“This is the best chance we’ve had for a diplomatic resolution forever to the Iranian nuclear program. And who knows when we’ll get this chance again?” Harf said. “We need to give our team and our experts the space to get this done.”

(Hint): We having been down this road a millions miles before Ms Harf. Let’s lift all the sanctions. That will work. I am sure of it.

State Dept clears Benghazi Officials “These are real people with real lives”

First A clip of Charlene Lamb’s testimony before Issa’s House Committee. She declined the requests for improved security. She says it was not a budget concern that denied additional funding. No matter, the orders came from higher up no doubt. Hillary and her pals will skate on this one. The sad part is that no one at all will pay any consequence for this fiasco that cost lives and maimed who knows even how many. In the second clip Marie Harf appears in the video at about 1:00 minute in. Note the petulant arrogant mouth piece who apparently is the new face of the State department.
State Department Clears Benghazi Officials: “These Are Real People with Real lives” she says. How about those who will never again be real people with real lives?

Four State Department employees put on leave after terrorist attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi have been cleared, the department says.

The group had been put on administrative leave in December by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton after the September attack that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

“After consideration, he reaffirmed its findings that no employee breached their duty or should be fired but rather that some should be reassigned.”

The decision to move the Benghazi consulate workers to other areas within the department was made to “continue to turn the page and shift the paradigm inside the department,” the official said. Yes indeed, let us turn this nasty page. GOP USA
