Seriously, does anyone who votes republican want McCarthy for speaker? I know I don’t

At the very moment the GOP wants to install McCarthy as Speaker of the House, McConnell is out galavanting with Biden celebrating everything that is wrong with congress. The $1 trillion pork laden, inflationary monstrosity expenditure of our money. It is the first time I have seen McConnell smile in a long time. Every reason to vote no for McCarthy. McCarthy is suppose to be this prolific fund raiser. Yes, and all the payback will then have to be made and he will do it in spades.

This isn’t McCarthy’s first rodeo. He tried for the position in 2015 and had to back down as he did not have enough support. The rule for 1 person to request a vote for removal of the speaker has been in place for over a hundred years. Pelosi removed it.

Within little more than a week we are to forget that McCarthy could not even follow the rules regarding giving 72 hours for the GOP to read the Omnibus spending bill. It came out Sunday night at 3:00 and was voted on Tuesday. We should trust this man with the “deals” he is proposing?

Hannity is all in for McCarthy. Here was a good response I found

Hannity misses the point completely. 201 is not 218. 20 is not 218 .Both are not enough.

The 20 clearly want another choice. It isn’t Lauren’s job to pick someone who will get 218 vs McCarthy, it’s the job of the party to put someone forward that has adequate support to win.

Here are her remarks in Congress

Hundreds of miles away from the chaos in Washington that is consuming the new GOP House majority, President Biden took a victory lap with an unlikely Republican ally. He appeared in Kentucky alongside Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to promote new infrastructure projects.

Bonus time: Just who is Kevin McCarthy?.

From Bunks files of good stuff-

Frank Luntz and Kevin McCarthy are roommates! Carlson breaks the weird story UPDATE

The ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’ host laced into the pollster and questioned why he ‘remained a fixture’ in Republican politics.

TUCKER: Over the weekend, we got a call from a source who said that, in fact, Frank Luntz and Kevin McCarthy are not simply friends, they’re roommates. Kevin McCarthy lives in Luntz’s apartment in downtown Washington. That’s what we were told, and honestly, we did not believe it. The top Republican in the House lives with a Google lobbyist? Come on. Even by the sleazy and corrupt standards of politics in Washington, that didn’t seem possible. In fact, it sounded like a joke.

Reportedly found in Hunter Biden’s laptop. Tucker referenced E-mails between Luntz and Biden on Friday. Sounds pretty petty doesn’t it?

John Boehner ‘I have learned to deal with jackasses’

This is what good old John thinks of Conservatives. Anyone think that the so-called Immigration Reform bill is not coming our way? Now the purge begins of his enemies.

September 19, 2014.

House Republicans are quietly discussing a proposal that could fundamentally alter the way future speakers of the House are chosen, according to multiple GOP sources, with the objective of avoiding a repeat of John Boehner’s embarrassing reelection vote in 2013.

The rule tweak began as an informal discussion but has morphed into a concrete proposal that is beginning to circulate in the House. According to people briefed on it, any Republican who votes on the House floor in January against the conference’s nominee for House speaker—that is, the candidate chosen by a majority of the House GOP during its closed-door leadership elections in November—would be severely punished. Specifically, sources say, any dissenters would be stripped of all committee assignments for that Congress.
“There’s a real concern that there’s between 30 and 40 people that would vote against the speaker on the House floor, so they’re trying to change the conference rules to make sure that doesn’t happen,” said a GOP member familiar with the proposal.

Boehner: ‘I have learned to deal with jackasses’

Every skill he needs to do his current job he learned working in his dad’s bar, House speaker John Boehner told Jay Leno on Thursday night. Chief among them: “You have to learn to deal with every jacka** that walks in the door.”

That requires the speaker, at times, to be the “big-brother figure,” at others, “the father figure” or “the dean of students or the principal.” “Some of them I have to be the Gestapo,” he said.

Boehner described his job as “trying to get 218 frogs in a wheelbarrow long enough to pass a bill.” Nonetheless, he said he welcomes the diversity of his caucus and praised the Tea Barty for bringing “great energy to the political process.” (Laugh line here) More at National Review

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) drew sharp criticism Friday for poking fun at Republicans who oppose recent efforts to tackle immigration reform.

“Here’s the attitude. Ohhhh! Don’t make me do this. Ohhhh! This is too hard,” Boehner said theatrically, wincing and pulling a funny face during a speech Thursday at the Middletown Rotary Club in Ohio. Here is a refresher Mr. Boehner.

“Boehner doesn’t seem very concerned about trying to win over Republican detractors who are aiming to unseat him,” the report said. “Since October, when conservatives forced an unpopular partial shutdown of the federal government, he’s stopped disguising his disdain for Tea Party groups and their tactics, calculating that enough other Republicans are fed up, too.”

House Speaker John Boehner mocked his colleagues for not tackling immigration reform during a rotary club meeting.

They call the Tea Party folks wacko birds? Conservatives don’t want an alcoholic foul mouth for Speaker of the House. Throw in a cry baby. For the back story I give you a link from an earlier post: Boehner threatens purge of member’s Committee seats if not supported

Rep. John Boehner narrowly survived a tense vote to win a third term as House Speaker, winning the support of 216 of his colleagues.
