Caring for Kids Today, Building a Stronger Buffalo Tomorrow

About Joe Andreessen

A native of the Buffalo, New York area, Andreessen played little league football before playing for Lancaster High School, where he was noted for his work ethic and won numerous accolades, including Defensive Player of the Year in Western New York.

After going undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, Andreessen was signed by his hometown Buffalo Bills on May 11, 2024, after a successful rookie minicamp tryout. Andreessen started the second game of the preseason playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starters and he had a strong performance, finishing with a team-high 12 tackles, including two tackles for loss, one of which was a fourth-down sack of QB Justin Fields. QB Josh Allen nicknamed Andreessen “Buffalo Joe” following the performance, paying homage to the latter’s upbringing in Buffalo.

Andreessen was named to the NFL’s “All Preseason Team” for his play in the preseason, later making the Bills’ initial 53-man roster.

Andreessen finished his first regular season with the Bills playing in 13 games (1 start) with 11 tackles (9 solo), 1 QB hit and a TFL. Made his NFL debut vs. Jax. (9/23/24), recording two tackles (one solo).

Andreessen split his college career between Buffalo (2023) and Bryant (2018-22). Started all 12 games at linebacker for the UB Bulls in 2023. Led the Bulls in tackles with 90 and tackles for loss with 12. Added a sack, two pass breakups and a forced fumble. Finished his career at Bryant ranking third in career tackles with 256. Earned AllAmerica honors after setting a Bryant single season school record with 116 tackles in 2022. Ranked eighth in the FCS while averaging 10.5 tackles per game. In 2021, was a First Team All-NEC selection. Started all 11 games and finished second on team with 80 tackles. Added eight TFLs and led the NEC with three interceptions.

OUR VISION

The Buffalo Joe Children’s Foundation was founded by Joseph Andreessen, an NFL player for his hometown team, the Buffalo Bills. He is dedicated to giving back to the community that helped shape him as a young athlete. The Foundation strives to empower, support and uplift children facing financial, mental, or physical challenges by providing direct support, raising awareness, and fostering inclusive opportunities and programs. We are dedicated to supporting all children but specifically children with disabilities, serious illnesses, and experiencing life-altering situations, while also bridging the gap for young athletes who lack the resources to pursue their dreams. Rooted in gratitude, heart and hustle with a deep commitment to the WNY community, the Buffalo Joe Children’s Foundation wants to leave a heartprint on the lives of children to thrive, play and belong.
