The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation (OSI) has opened an investigation into the death of Lucien Colon, who died on April 2, 2026 following an encounter with members of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) in the Bronx.

Shortly after 7 a.m. on April 2, 2026, NYPD officers went to an apartment in the Bronx to arrest Mr. Colon. Upon entering Mr. Colon’s apartment, officers encountered Mr. Colon, who was in a bedroom, and said he had a gun. The door to the bedroom was open, and Mr. Colon allegedly raised what appeared to be a gun at the officers. One officer discharged his service weapon, striking Mr. Colon.

Mr. Colon was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers recovered an object that looked like a gun at the scene.

Pursuant to New York State Executive Law Section 70-b, OSI assesses every incident reported to it where a police officer or a peace officer, including a corrections officer, may have caused the death of a person by an act or omission. Under the law, the officer may be on-duty or off-duty, and the decedent may be armed or unarmed.

Also, the decedent may or may not be in custody or incarcerated. If OSI’s assessment indicates an officer may have caused the death, OSI proceeds to conduct a full investigation of the incident.

These are preliminary facts and…

Today, Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the launch of a new online child care map and resource center designed to make it easier for families to find, understand and choose child care programs that meet their needs.

For the first time, families can visit nyc.gov/childcare to search for child care options citywide using a single platform. The site allows users to filter by location, age group and cost, and provides key details about providers, including services offered, eligibility requirements and contact information.

The new tool builds on the Mamdani administration’s commitment to universal, accessible child care. It follows the addition of more than 1,000 new 3-K seats in high-demand neighborhoods and the launch of 2,000 free 2-K seats in four communities across the city.

“Parents already carry so much. For too long, finding child care has meant hours of searching, cross-checking lists and relying on word of mouth. In New York City, finding care for your child should not feel like a second job,” said Mayor Mamdani. “This tool is about making government work for people — simple, clear and accessible — so every parent can make the best decision for their child.”

“Today’s announcement underscores this…

New York may dominate headlines when it comes to U.S. gambling, particularly with its record-breaking sports betting figures, yet the revenue reports reveal that New Jersey outperforms its larger neighbour in total gaming revenue.

The divergence between the two states is not accidental, nor is it temporary, but instead reflects a decade of regulatory choices that have positioned New Jersey at the forefront of online casino development, while New York has, for now, remained on the sidelines of that particular segment.

A Growing Industry, but Uneven Gains Across States

The U.S. gaming sector continues to expand at a steady pace, with the American Gaming Association reporting total commercial gaming revenue of $78.72 billion in 2025, marking yet another year of sustained growth across multiple verticals.

The headline figures suggest expansion, and a closer look at the data reveals that online casinos account for a large share of incremental gains for the first trimester of 2026.

The revenue figures have not been evenly distributed across jurisdictions, and it is here that the contrast between New Jersey and New York becomes clear.

New Jersey’s Revenue Mix Reflects Strategic Depth

New Jersey’s total gaming revenue reached $7 billion, setting a new state record in 2025. The opening months of 2026 provide further evidence of this structural strength, with New Jersey reporting more than $586 million in total gaming revenue in January, followed by over $520 million in February, bringing the cumulative total for the year’s first two months to in excess of $1.1 billion.

While land-based casinos and sports betting continue to contribute meaningfully to these figures, it is the stability of…

In a moment that should shake the conscience of the civilized world, the demonuc Islamic regime in Iran has once again demonstrated the true nature of its rule. Amid escalating tensions, internal unrest, and a tightening grip on information, Iranian authorities have carried out the execution of a 19-year-old national wrestling champion, alongside two (2) other young men, for their alleged involvement in January protests.

Their names must not be forgotten: Saleh Mohammadi, Mehdi Ghasemi, and Saeed Davoudi. These were not hardened criminals. They were young men, part of a generation demanding dignity, opportunity, and freedom in a nation increasingly defined by repression.

This is not justice. This is political terror.

A Regime That Lies to the World

The Iranian regime reportedly signaled to the international community, including figures such as Donald Trump, that it would halt executions tied to protest activity. That assurance has now been exposed as nothing more than deception.

Instead of restraint, the regime escalated. Instead of reform, it delivered death sentences. Instead of transparency, it imposed darkness, including a reported 20-day internet blackout designed to conceal its actions from global scrutiny.

This pattern is not new. It is a hallmark of authoritarian governance: promise moderation to the outside world while crushing dissent at home.

Sham Trials and Manufactured Guilt

Reports surrounding these executions paint a deeply disturbing picture. The accused were…
