From Shoreline to Approval — Simplifying Your Dock Permitting, Start to Finish
Overview
In 2023, Bracken Engineering, Inc. (BEI) was retained by a client to design and permit the construction of a new pier at their property. As no existing dock or pier was present on the site, the project required full development from initial feasibility evaluation and permitting through design and implementation.
Solution
Initially, BEI conducted an on-site survey to develop an existing conditions plan and performed a feasibility analysis to determine the viability of constructing a dock or pier. Following this assessment, we met with the client to review potential options and establish a plan for moving forward. Throughout the process, BEI coordinated with the relevant regulatory authorities to ensure all permitting requirements were met, including the Town Conservation Commission, the Chapter 91 licensing process, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Upon completion of construction, we facilitated the issuance of a Certificate of Compliance from the Town Conservation Commission. Ultimately, the client received the pier as desired, with all permits properly secured, ensuring both regulatory compliance and the protection of the client and the surrounding environment.
