Here's how it works:

For now, this is only a gwen feature. It may be expanded to other irc bots, once it's proven to be stable on gwen.

It only works with whatever Babelfish can translate, though it does seem to hate on a lot of things. Google charges for their translator, so unless we all want to pay for it (we don't) we're not going to get every language.

Because there are a ton of vids out there and it's hard to separate the wheat from the chaff, I figured I'd post a small list of Things That Are Worth Watching :D Hope this is helpful to some of you :)

* The TotalBiscuit/Cynical Brit review of the GW2 demo in two parts: part 1 and part 2. Apparently he's sort of Internet Famous(tm). He plays MMOs and is familiar with GW1. Funny and entertaining to watch. (Includes charr tutorial gameplay and reveals the first boss if you haven't found that one out yet! :D It's a familiar face!)

* Links to customization vids for all the races.

* The first two PvP showmatches: match one and match two. Pitches the Anet dev team against euro guild Boon Control on the Battle for Kyhlo map.

Was talked about to great lengths early this morning, and we're tentatively agreeing to see if we can make it work.

Good news is that we'd have a guest with approximately rank 400-ish experience (Shawn's friend Ryuu). This would help, since our experience level is, er, yeah.

Having said that, comment here with interest and what you'd like to play/learn to play. We'll go from here.

We expect some nerfs to the meta, as well as a reworking of the current tiebreaker system next month, so we're in no hurry to do much of anything until that happens.

So, I've been poking around at some vent hosting this afternoon. I don't think we should expect Kama to foot the bill for it, since we're all (or would be) using it.

My idea is to find one that gives a discount if you pay yearly, and ask everyone to contribute what they can. For example, a 10-user one I found is $33.54 for 12 months, which isn't really that much per nub :D

I'd like to actually start USING it more, if we do get it. For anything, whatever. Just to get a better communication thing goin' :D

If you're too cheap to buy the Pet unlock pack (I know I am!) or just want to have some fun pointlessly running around, here's a quick and dirty guide for capturing all pets in the game. It will just unlock the basic level 5 expect for one or two pets, so you'll have to level them up if you actually wanna use 'em, but if you just want a populated zoo, this is for you :D

There are many places to charm these animals, this list is just what I consider to be the easiest places to grab 'em :)

Dragon Festival is on! Quests, boardwalk, dragon arena. The usual.

This year, a few of us have low characters who are too pathetic and puny to do the quests alone. So when you're about to go, shout out over AC or in IRC that you're going and offer a spot to a lowbie! There should be enough of us with normal chars and lowbies that in the end it all evens out that everyone's low folk get to go through.

What we just did was to go 4 times, each time someone brought a lowbie/char with no heroes. We all got something out of it we would have had trouble with alone.

Plus playing with people in these quests is good!

Remember to pay attention and /resign when everyone else has ;D.

Of course, if you want to play by yourself that's cool too. We wont like, be shaking pointy sticks if you wanna do stuff just by yourself for whatever reason ^_^

Anyone up for moar GVG Tuesday or Wednesday? This weekend's no good for me cause I gotta work and it's a holiday weekend, and Monday won't do because it's my dad's birthday.

Tomorrow night, 9-11 PM eastern (not quite solid about the time frame, will update), I actually get some guaranteed gaming time, which is pretty rare for me lately.

Ideally, I'd like to find people to do some of the things I need now that I can't do easily alone, like my very first FoW run, or the first Ring of Fire mission. I'd be open to other things if you want to suggest something. I need anything that's not Norn in EoTN (and of course it's double rep weekend!), I need to go cap an elite for my monk heroes, and I'm up to Dasha Vestibule/Dzagonur Bastion in Nightfall. I'm a lvl 20 SS necro, and my best heroes are Olias as a MM and Zhed/Vekk running SF.

I can sometimes make plans to do shorter things at other times (like right now I'm on in NF for a bit) if people are interested but you have to put up with the vagaries of public wi-fi until my internet connection situation is fixed.

Also while I'm here remember there's an Alliance outing on Sunday at 7PM GMT. Details are in TBC forum. No we don't know what we're doing, but please do try and attend. It's been a while since we've had happy fun alliance time. It's time to leave the heroes at home :)

Many of you know me from #lj_support; for those who don't I'm Muse there and Muse Carmona in game. I'm a necro in the southern shiverpeaks in prophs. I'm not in BPA though I hang out on the boat.

I also live in the GMT -5 time zone. I'm self-employed and can set my own schedule, but I keep ending up staying up until 5 AM missioning and then not being able to do Things That Adults Must Do During The Business Day, which is bad.

LFG: if you like grouping with other players, what time do you tend to do prophs content? I'm looking for a Decent Hour at which I can play and hope to find other people online. Also interested in PVPing.

yeah, so I totally suck at organizing trips. The two trips this weekend? went marvelously. as in no one \o/ (well, okay, the second one a couple of us went down, but.)

So trying one more time, with a bit more warning, and if this doesn't work I'm just going to give up.

Okay, so I slightly suck at followup :)

So. This is somewhat short notice, but I'm thinking of doing a run today, starting in two hours - 12 Pacific (which I believe is 8pm GMT; at any rate, it's 8pm gwen's time) - if I can get enough people. \o/

Also, second run tomorrow, but it will have to start later -- 1 or 2 Pacific.

So, I need to do a bunch of FoW runs, because I need shards. (And theoretically at least, FoW runs would mean shards dropping, either for me, or for other people who could part with them.) Doesn't need to be full clearout, just Running Around And Killing Shit.

Generally speaking: I'm usually available 10am - 12am pacific time. (Am too lazy to convert to GMT/UST, sorry.) Tuesday nights don't work, other nights are fine; Sunday mornings don't work. For shard runs, I can bring any class, though I'd prefer not melee -- probably preference to ranger, nec, or ele, but really anything. (If we ever do a full clearout, I'd be more picky about who. When I do the armor run, will be bringing nec, but that's Not Yet.)

Dawna and Jen and I tried t do Shards of Orr today, and kind of failed. We were okay on DP thanks to candy canes -- I think I went through six (sharing) -- but all our nubs were at 60 and going splat. Got to level three, looked at the mobs, looked at the description of the final boss, and went "lolno".

(it wasn't a good sign that on the first dungeon, I ended up running half of it, using ogden as bait, to get to the door.)

So we're thinking we need more peopley people. So. Anyone feel like doing it sometime?

Although EotN is barely a week old, many have finished the storyline and are bumbling through the side bits. As far as IRC is concerned a few of us want it to return to normal because keeping track of 2 channels is confusing us D:

For a long time now, I've essentially been a one-trick Ponie: an Aeromancer. Fact is, I don't have time to play much more than one character and I do love being an Ele. Anyway, I've been thinking lately I should expand outside my beloved Air magic skills, which I have focussed on since I had enough to fill up a bar with.

So yeah, I want to play around with some Fire, Earth and Water magic builds. But I don't really know where to start. If you'd like to share, I would be much appreciative. Also, some Air magic ones would be nice to give me some new ideas to try.

Eye of the North pre-order, is there anyone not taking part? And if not, why not? And I don't mean that in a bitchy way, lawl. I mean, if it's a case of you being out of town or what have you, then that's boo, but if it's a case of not being able to get a copy of it, then perhaps other people can look out for a copy.
