The first minute and a half of this I thought it was going to go one way, and then the next three minutes it went another. For me, that’s an accomplishment with a short - to be so absolutely surprised by its direction. What at first seems to be drunken ramblings are something else entirely. The simple camera work here in particular was something to marvel at - I can’t imagine how long it took to get this nearly continuous shot. Loved this.
let’s play a game i like to call, ‘how short can a short film be and still make me cry’
A great example of how blocking and camera work can be used to hide information that's been present the whole time. It's very interesting from a filmmaking standpoint, and it's only 5 minutes and on YouTube, so go check it out.
beautifully poignant and haunting

I was not ready to be taken on such an emotional roller coaster ride with just the simple singing of a classic nursery rhyme and an effective and powerful single-take reveal.
Perfect in its execution, this is the most impactful 5 minutes of filmmaking I have seen 😭
A near flawless short film.
Keeps you on your toes. Subverts expectations.
And understands one core element.
The most unsettling thing to hold the camera on is an Aussie Metalhead.
Impressive in every sense of the word.
I'm floored.
Every moving piece was operating at a high level.
9.6/10
I have seen this five minute short film only a single time, more than a year and a half ago, and ever since, it kept popping back into my head every now and then, and I kept thinking about how great it is. Finally re-watching it today, that sentiment solidified for me, and it's clear I have to bump it up to five stars.
The film is a masterclass in the art of the live-action short film. It confronts the audience with a bizarre opening, as we see a shirtless, obviously freezing, and seemingly scared or possibly intoxicated young man (Toby Wallace) singing Old McDonald Had a Farm. Are we supposed to laugh at him? Are we supposed to be…
Such an amazing and unexpected short. With a run time of only 5:14 this shocker of a story manages to surprise and shock in equal measure. Pure genius storytelling created with just two takes.
From the opening scene of a shirtless metal head singing a nursery rhyme to the final wailing of a child the whole story unravels through an emotional, immersive experience.
A must watch 5 minutes . AMAZING.

Old MacDonald Had a Farm...
One-Take Kurzfilm der sein wahres Grauen nur nach und nach durch die Kamerabewegung preisgibt. Nichts ist zunächst so wie es scheint und wird am Ende mit einem Schlag in die Magengrube aufgelöst.
