YAY! I've been doing these hunt since 2021 so I'm very happy to finally get to host one! They've enabled me to explore so many films that I wouldn't have seen otherwise.
Thank you to Fred for hosting August's hunt.

Anyway, let's get to the prompts:
1. It seems like a lot of you are from the northern hemisphere. Let's start off by joining me 'down under'. Watch an Australian film (bonus points if it's set in Australia!) Here's a list to help: here.
2. I've been obsessed with film since a very young age. My film taste is wide-ranging and random. Get to know me by watching one of my top films
3. Film is something I've shared with my friends and family who have all exposed me to a wide array of films. Watch one of my friends and family's favourite films
4. My love of cinema comes from my parents. My Mum went to film school in the 90s and as such I was exposed to some weird and experimental films at a young age. In honour of my Mum, Watch a film from one of these lists: An Alternate Feminist Cinema , An Alternate Feminist Cinema pt. II
5. I've been exposed to surfing since a young age. My Dad's family have been involved in surfing in South Australia since the early 60's as surfboard manufacturers. My Dad's love of making surf films meant I had access to a video camera as a kid and thus my love film-making has grown from there. Watch a film about surfing
6. I live in South Australia, where some iconic films have been shot such as Picnic at Hanging Rock, Talk to Me and The Babadook. Watch a film shot in South Australia - here's more inspo
7. Let's go travelling, visit the random country generator and watch a film from the country you get. (If it's your home country or a country that doesn't have any films then obviously try again but please do try to watch you first selection!)
8. For over a year I've been actively trying to watch more films directed by women. Watch a film directed by a woman (or non-binary person).
9. I'm an avid reader and I've just finished reading all of Jane Austen's novels. Most of the film adaptations are trash and don't live up to the source material. Ang Lee's Sense and Sensibility is great though. In 1995, the lovely Emma Thompson won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for it, making her the only person in history to win an Oscar for both screenwriting and acting. So let's watch an Emma Thompson film to celebrate her!
10. I was an English lit major when I was at university, so while we're on the topic of adapted screenplays, let's watch a literary adaptation.
11. I also studied film at university and went to film school. Watch something I had watch in one of my courses
12. As you may (or may not) have noticed, that list was heavily male dominated - let's have a palette cleanse with this spectacular list: Women have superior taste that is why these masterpieces are called chick flicks
13. Growing up, My best friend and I went through a phase where we were obsessed with witches (thanks to Buffy, Sabrina, The Craft...) and we told everyone that would listen that we were witches. Watch a film featuring witches.
14. Cringe! While we're talking about youthful obsessions, I was totally in love with Leonardo DiCaprio when I was 14 (thanks Titanic). Watch a film featuring the actor you had a crush on when you were 14 (or admired).
15. Let's stay in the past (i.e the 90s/00s). Watch a film I was obsessed with while growing up (and probably still am).
16. I've always wished I could speak another language but I suck at learning them. My grandfather was multilingual, in addition to his first language (Greek), he could speak English, Turkish, French and Italian. So I've recently started teaching myself Greek. Watch a film in a language linked to your family heritage. If you don't know your heritage or if its English, watch one in one of my grandfather's languages.
17. A core part of my identity is being a redhead. Watch a film where the main character is a redhead women (or girl).
18. I've been a member of the Australian Writers Guild for 3 years now, so I should probably finish my current script. At the moment I'm writing a horror that features demonic sacrifice. Help me with my 'research' and watch a film that features demonic sacrifice or a deal with a devil/demon.
19. Let's lighten things up a bit. Watch something staring a pop star. Here's a list for inspo
20. I don't know about you but I'm always doing a lot of letterboxd challenges at once. Use this space to watch a film from another challenge you're doing or something from your watchlist.
21. Let's take some time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander filmmakers. Watch a film directed by an Australian First Nations Director. Here's somewhere to start
22. Agatha Christie is one of my favourite authors and Clue is one of my favourite board games so naturally I love whodunit films. Watch a whodunit.
23. Gosford Park is one of my favourite whodunits and Robert Altman is a master of ensemble films. Watch a film with an ensemble cast (doesn't have to be an Altman film).
24. Music can make or break a film. Watch a film featuring one of your favourite composers.
25. In addition to film, I love to watch TV series and a series that had a haunting soundtrack and has become one of my all time favourite shows is the first season of the short lived horror anthology series, The Terror. It is an absolute masterpiece in writing and acting. Watch something staring someone from the first season of The Terror.
26. There is no doubt that film I have seen the most times in my life is The Mummy. I've literally seen it hundreds of times. It's the perfect adventure film and Brendan Fraser is key to the film's perfect tone. Everyone celebrate Brendan Fraser by watching one of his films.
27. A great documentary I tell everyone about is Waking Sleeping Beauty about Disney Animation Studios and the rise of the Disney Renaissance. Watch a Disney Renaissance film or the documentary.
28. Tim Burton got his start working for Disney Animation and he went on to create a distinct style that featured gothic fantasy/horror. Watch a gothic horror film.
29. In expanding my film repertoire I've fallen in love with the fast talking films from golden age of Hollywood. Watch a classic Hollywood film (1927-1960).
30. Let's finish in the present. Watch a film released in 2024.
If for whatever reason you can't find a film for one of these prompts you can sub it out for a film directed by a woman.
Happy hunting! 👍
