Awards Season 2022–2023: Best Film

The Palme d’Or, the Golden Bear, the Academy Award for Best Motion Picture of the Year... the crème de la crème. This list is an addendum to our traditional Awards Season roundup, which tracks winners of all categories from film festival juries, critics, and guilds. Here we include only the top ‘Best Film’ prize from eligible awards bodies, with rare exceptions (e.g. Golden Globes). See the results for the 2021–2022 awards season.

The list is sorted by the films’ average Letterboxd rating, and the notes specify the prize. This generally excludes Audience Awards unless those accolades are considered the main prize (e.g. TIFF).
