Snowtown
★★½

In typical Kurzel fashion, this is a gritty, unflinching, well-made production with solid acting, that depicts the Snowtown murders in Australia, one of the countries most notorious events. But I can't help but feel like I'd have just preferred a documentary, because in terms of the storytelling this was kind of messy and cluttered. I don't feel like I learnt much about the events, the characters or most importantly in my opinion, their motivations, beyond the bits of information presented before the credits. It's often jumping all over the place without much explanation or reasoning and I became a little lost trying to piece together exactly what was happening during these events and in what order and it unfortunately became a bit of a bore.

Might have accidentally done the wrong thing by watching Kurzel's other work "Nitram" first, which is similar-ish plot and execution, because I personally thought that was far better in every area. Not unwatchable by any means, but again, If there's a documentary out there about Snowtown, I feel like that would be a better use of your time.
