Film #62 of my 100 Degrees, 100 Movies Challenge

Common actor from previous film: Mark Margolis

PREVIOUS FILM: The Thomas Crown Affair
NEXT FILM: Commando

This is not a figment of your imagination...I have finally continued my 100 Degrees Challenge after five months. And while I wish the return had of been for a true motherfucking masterpiece, there was some stuff I really dug in End of Days.

First, I found the mix of Arnie in a horror-type film intriguing. I couldn't think of another instance in which he has done a horror film. Mixing some really creepy imagery with the typical Arnie-isms was quite a fun experience.

I also liked the performance of Gabriel Byrne. He was easily the standout, even over Arnie, which pains me to say purely because I love Arnie. I thought all of the performances in general were good though.

As mentioned above, there was some really creepy imagery and I liked it alot. The whole environment set for the film was quite well done, except there were some scenes where shit was just way too fucking dark. I get it being dark, it's night and everything, but get a little creative with the lighting in certain scenes cos it was hard to make out what was happening.

My biggest flaw with this movie is I find it really drags in places, particularly in the middle. The beginning is cool cos we see Gabriel Byrne then it drags for ages, then when Arnie has his first proper encounter with the Devil, things pick up and the final act is just fucking bonkers and I loved that.

Finally, how bad ass of a name is Jericho Cane...I'm sure it has some link to the bible (was there a book of Jericho?) but I don't care enough to research it. I just felt it was a perfect Arnie action movie name...
