Angry Ridley Scott is always a thing of wonder. Covenant is in many ways an inspection of his own works as a filmmaker and specifically about what he created with the Alien franchise getting away from what he created and all the forces beyond him mutilating and disfiguring what he created. He is lashing out at the studios for what they did to his works and he's taking back control in a most brutal way. David's anger is Ridley's anger and David's revenge is in many ways Ridley's and he's not bowing down to anyone anymore, and my god is it amazing. With Prometheus I was already on board on whatever crazy ride Scott wanted to take me on and with Covenant, I am eagerly waiting for this journey to continue on for more movies. Fuck I don't even care about the Xenomorphs anymore, I just want to watch David fuck around and be a menace in space and I'll gladly take ten more of these before he builds it up to Alien.
