What is going on here?!?
This was actually a PRETTY GOOD movie!
I mean... it has a name that leads you to believe that it might be a genuinely BAD-MOVIE-THAT-YOU-LOVE and that maybe it will have a Mad Scientist in it.
But neither of those things is true.
Set deep in the Louisiana bayou, there's a giant fish that done gone and killed a local fisherman. They call up the big city and get a big time former local boy to come home and medically examine the situation.
Then the giant fish beast starts killing again and there's lots of chompin', screamin', bleedin' and prayin' to the dark voodoo lord.
And I'll be damned if it's not a good action/beast-horror flick.
The director Mark Dippé is no rookie, having directed the classic movie SPAWN back in the day! So my boy knows how to make a film, how to shoot it and all that good stuff shows onscreen here.
Yeah, so this was a pleasant surprise. I mean, I was down for it to be a cheesy Frankenstein meets Jaws rip-off... I had my bottle of Arbor Mist all read to go... but this was not that.
Go figure.
Me likey.
