Tribeca Festival #2
My Love Affair with Marriage is an art-house animated musical about the psychological journey of being a woman. It feels like reading a picture book, watching an educational documentary, and listening to a semi- autobiographical podcast all at once.
I loved the distinctive 2D storybook illustration style composited over the 3D miniature sets. The songs are a vibe, and the screenplay made me interested in science? Sometimes it’s health class, but I think that gives it a unique framing device and narrative pull.
Insightful writing matched with compelling artistry, and one of those movies that reminds you why you love the animated form. It would make a great double feature with Everybody Rides the Carousel.
MVPs: The musical trio of greek chorus bird ladies.
