TRIVIA: Despite having directed several horror pictures, director Ken Wiederhorn was not a fan of the horror genre. Many cast and crew members expressed in interviews that they were displeased with his lack of enthusiasm towards the project.
This lame sequel has nothing to do with the first film except for the presence of the chemical 245 Trioxin which, at films beginning, rolls off of an army truck and lands in a ditch outside of a…
Yeah I know it’s not anywhere close to as good as the first one and if you said you didn’t like it, I’d totally get it...I’d judge you obviously because that’s just a thing that I do...but i’d get it, but there’s so much 80’sness and lovely practical effects that I still love it pretty hard.
The poster is one of my favorite 80’s VHS works of art. As for the actual film, nothing that’s done in this “reimagining” of the first movie is done as well and it really makes you wonder why they opted to make a sequel that way, but far be it from me to not enjoy a goofy horror comedy with zombies and James Karen acting a fool. Suzanne Snyder’s wannabe Debbie Gibson has got to go tho. Ughhh.

With its silly humor and good effects, the movie goes in the same direction as the first part. Basically, the same story is being told again, just in different locations and with less good characters.
What an absolutely ridiculous movie. 🤣
Man, do I love a good horror-comedy. I just can't help it. Has always been a guilty pleasure.
I'm so glad the makers of this series decided to go this route.
They could've just made another stupid zombie movie, but instead they made something memorable that totally stands out from the rest.
I love that they just casted the same two guys from the original movie, and just put them in different roles. Just brilliant. 😂
And one of those guys being scream king Thom Mathews is just the icing on the cake.
He will always be Tommy Jarvis to me, but I think I'm starting to know him just as much from this…
If Return of the Living Dead is the GG Allin of zombie movies, then Part II is Blink-182.

This toned down, suburban sequel to one of the greatest zombie films of all time is fine in its own right. It was disorienting the first time I saw it, as it tells almost the same story but with different characters and tone. Some things return: the Trioxin gas is back to kick off a zombie outbreak, and actors James Karen and Thom Matthews play different characters with a nod and a wink to their original roles.
It’s a curious film.
Though it repeats the plot points from the original, it is clearly intended to be an event that happens in the same universe but some time later. It leans…
A fun sequel to the 1985 movie. Ken Wiederhorn takes over the helm from Dan O'Bannon, but he flawlessly recreates the same quirky atmosphere as the original. I love that James Karen and Thom Mathews basically reprise their roles, but not quite. It does fall a tiny bit short, but that has more to do with the first one being so exceptional and not because of any real failings of this one.
I had a blast watching this with Michelle.
I was very much disappointed that Thom Mathews wasn’t wearing a tank top in this one. Like the first, this was silly and so much fun. I loved the convenience of the sister being a state-champion shooter. The soundtrack was also gloriously 80’s.

When an US military truck loses a drum of Trioxin, it's found by three boys, who then release the gas into a nearby cemetary where grave robbers Ed (James Karen) and Joey (Thom Mathews) break open crypts to look for riches. Soon, the dead become alive again, rise from their graves and go after the living ...
Return of the Living Dead Part II is a comedy horror film written and directed by Ken Wiederhorn. It's the 2nd installment in the Return of the Living Deadfilm series, a sequel to Return of the Living Dead (my review).
After the success of the previous film, hoping to turn series…
Honestly, this goofy sequel to the absolutely brilliant original, doesn’t work for me at all. It’s an unnecessary, unfunny and un-scary rehash of the first one. The characters are annoying, the humor doesn’t and there’s hardly any blood and gore.
It’s competently shot and has some okay action and effects. But overall, this is a weak-ass Zombie movie that doesn’t hold a candle to the original. Kids might have some fun here but for fans of the original, I recommend skipping this one and going straight to part three, which as far as I remember, is actually quite decent.
This was not a bad movie i don't get the hate surrounding this movie it was very entertaining. Yes it is pretty similar to the first one plot wise but i didn't care that much. The zombies look good and the gore was pretty good, the acting was solid nothing that special and the pacing was very good it was a quick watch. Can't wait to watch the third one because i always hear amazing things about it.
Overall i liked this one a lot i would suggest it to people that like zombie movies. It's on Tubi.
