Space travel can be physically, mentally, and emotionally damaging. Astronauts must train for microgravity or zero-gravity environments, prepare for long missions, and cope with separations from loved ones indefinitely. Thus, prioritizing their wellbeing is essential.

In this track, we challenge you to design a product or application that enhances wellness for astronauts – and anyone else! Whether you focus on fitness, exercise, journaling, or stress management, explore innovative avenues that blend technology and wellness. Create solutions that make healthy living accessible and engaging on Earth and beyond!

Winners will receive a Gotrax GXL V2 Series Electric Scooter.

Reimagine Reality - Headphones

Our greatest strength as humans lies in our ability to innovate. As we set our sights on exploring the stars, we must refine existing products and technologies to meet new demands and operational challenges. Today, the world is filled with countless established products and applications. But have you ever wished an app had a feature it lacked? Or thought you could design it better if you were the creator? Now's your chance to unleash the inner creator in you and turn those ideas into reality!

In this track, you can take existing products and applications and transform them into something entirely different. Add new features, reimagine interfaces, or discover novel uses – this track is all about pushing the boundaries and reimagining current reality

Patient Safety Technology Challenge
1 winner

We’re in search of bold new thinking. This is an invitation to solve the problem of medical error that harms millions of U.S. patients, kills approximately 250,000 patients, and costs billions of dollars every year. We’re calling on BostonHacks 2024 participants to envision the best technology-enabled patient safety solution that has the potential to avert patient harm and save lives.

You do not need to have any background in healthcare to participate! The best team will be awarded Beats Headphones. To be eligible to win, your project must align with one of the following five leading patient safety challenges facing health care across the continuum of care: Medication errors, procedural/surgical errors, errors during routine patient care (e.g. pressure ulcers, blood clots, falls), infections and diagnostic safety.

Urban Refuge
1 winner

Urban Refuge was originally designed by BU students for Syrian refugees in Amman in 2016, here is a short video [https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1kxEI5l_RY0hEbxZBjbznyXrfAnc1n8r1] about how we started.
