Breakfast overcooked
It could have been more charismatic if the buildings and surrounds were used more diligently.
The property was fine it was the lack of ambience from the staff/management. No evening meals. Long drive to reach then had to go out and find a restaurant at short notice plus the bar didn’t have a good selection of beer or cocktails. Foreign tourists must have been shocked by the lack of facilities and service. It was not a good advert for British hospitality.
Great choice, well cooked.
The location was 👍
The breakfast was poor, small selection of fresh fruit, coffee machine was bot prepared on the fist day, although it was sorted. Plates were cold and the cooked breakfast could have been cooked the night previous as it was tepid at best. Poor show really.
Ok could have been warmer
Nothing
Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff is friendly, considerate and professional.
Friendly welcome and we were able to leave our bags before check in and after check out. Comfortable bed and interesting old building.
Room was facing the street and noise from the club opposite kept going until around 2.30am.

They got up very early
A nice hotel with everything you need.
Excellent breakfast and hotel within easy walking distance of all amenities in the town.
Cannot find fault with anything. Very friendly and helpful staff. A credit to the establishment.
An old coaching house with an impressive courtyard entrance.
My room was comfortable with a bath and shower. Could use entrance/exit without disturbing reception.
Due to age there was a confusing way to room. Noise during evening from local bar till 2am perhaps provide ear plugs.
Limited sachets of coffee.
Wonderfully unique place to stay, very close to the center and several bus stops, including the Stonehenge tour bus. The hotel looks rustic, has a certain personality to it. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, breakfast was good. Heating was okay and windows worked as intended.
The building is beautiful but good Lord, it's long overdue for a renovation. Not to modernise it, I do hope they keep the current style, but it's so worn down. Carpets are faded and torn at places, wallpaper is uneven and yellowed in the corridors. The fire doors between hallways look industrial and scratched, they should be switched out. New, bigger and clearer direction signs should be posted - very easy to get lost in there, we had some trouble finding our rooms. Water pressure and temperature were both fine some minutes, then gone the next. The street-facing side of the building is discouraging, it should match the aesthetic of the inner building at least a little.
There's so much potential in the Red Lion, it moved my fantasy quite a bit. With a little care & love it could be turned into a hotel straight out of a fairytale.
Amazing story of the property from year 1220!
