Trolls seem to make !E!V!E!R!Y!T!H!I!N!G! better

I think I’m just done with Silvermoon, Eversong Woods, and Blood Elves (exception being my paladin outcast, had to craft a backstory for him that allowed me to not despise him). I’m thinking it’s the uppity attitude of the Blood Elves that makes me not want to have anything to do with the zones. I only have 2 Blood Elves on my account, my Paladin and a Demon Hunter. If other Horde races could be Demon Hunters, I’d only have 1 (aka if/when a second Horde race can be a demon hunter, I’m tossing cash at Blizzard faster than my bank account can blink).

Zul'Jarra shaming her brother with her bad assery

After begrudgingly making my way through Eversong, I got to the Zul’Aman cinematic where we meet Zul’jarra and Zul’jan. Suddenly, I’m enjoying the story, the zone, the attitude shift, and the NPCs (folks are heaping hate on Zul’jarra, but I’m a fan). I’ve consumed EVERY quest in the zone and wish there was more for me there. I even dinged 90 before depleting the zone of quests. Hopefully we wind up with more story in the zone as the expansion continues.

Stepped into Harandar and I’m thinking I’m going to like this zone too. If you haven’t already done it, you should fly up into The Cradle in Harandar (I’m sorry and you’re welcome). The new race is amusing. If you splice a Night Elf with a Troll and turn it into a furry, you get the Haranir. I don’t see the Haranir I create becoming a primary alt, but I’ll enjoy leveling one. Might create the toon on Moonguard, park her in the Lion’s Pride Inn and just funnel her illicitly earned gold to my mains.

As long as Harandar and Voidstorm are at least better than mediocre, I’ll will level my second main. I’ll probably do it via Zul’Aman and dungeons (and maybe Harandar too if it is good). I’m hoping the campaign skip works better than the prior expansions. They have been improving over the expansions, but there are always little issues that make it a chore to figure out what pieces still need to be dealt with.

I’m doing my best to avoid spoilers, so everything has been new and fresh to me. My plan was to only dive into the spoilers of Midnight and The Last Titan if I quit, and I’m not feeling very spoilery at the moment. At this point, it looks like I’ll finish out Midnight.

She said yes … and other things I’m thankful for

We decided to splurge on a cruise for our vacation this year. I decided that this was going to be where I would present a ring and spring the question.

We got the vacation all squared away with flights, hotel, cruise, etc. Then I got to work looking for a ring. The internet has made ring buying so easy. Found one that I was 99.999% certain she’d like and that I’d love seeing on her. She’s into purple, not-gold, and hearts. Asked her best friend for her opinion and got the all clear.

So… uhhhh… yeah… Blaugust.

Blaugust Came and went with no fanfare on this end. To be fair, it’s been a fun couple of weeks and blogging has been so far down my priority list.

We went camping down near Fairplay CO with the family. Jo and I packed the Jeep and grabbed the pooch and headed out. Harley Jean (HJ) is so good with car rides, now. She used to hate them and would whine non-stop from ignition on to jumping out of the door when we got there. Lots of random rides and the harness that secures her and she’s just peachy.

It was HJ’s first time being off-leash outside without being confined by a fence. She had a blast. Played hard and slept harder. Couple of nights were a bit chilly, but fortunately great-grandma crocheted HJ her own comfy blankie with her first initial. All the fur-babies have such a blanket.

I’m learning that Jeeping can be as expensive as motorcycling. Fortunately, I’m not forced to give either up. We both enjoy riding and both enjoy camping. Also, I’m able to find deals on lightly used equipment and cheap knock off items that I’m not worried about only getting a couple uses out of before I can replace with quality items.

So yeah, that’s my Blaugust for 2025.

The MoP Classic Pre-Patch

Being the Blizzard shill I am, of course I played it. Mounts, have to catch them all.

 Shaohao’s Sage Serpent

Took me about 3 hours to get Shaohao’s Sage Serpent, but that’s because I created a warrior and then decided to swap to a monk for their roll ability to make running less aggravating. Also, I took up herbalism and mining. I have no intentions of playing MoP Classic, but I wanted to make some random person’s life better by giving them a boatload of herbs, ores, and whatever money I had acquired by the “fix the land” quest.

I love the nostalgia of MoP, but I hate the loss of quality of life features that exist in retail. Like multi-tagging. Took me so long to complete the killquests, because mobs would get range tagged just before I landed a melee hit on them.

Also, and it’s sooooooooo dumb, but you can’t learn fishing in the Pandaren starting zone. SERIOUSLY!!!!! I’d have taken a couple of nights to do the starting zone if I could have fished. I would have handed those over to the one random person mentioned above too to help with their cooking.

Still alive and kicking. Still a filthy casual.

The Anniversary event kicked my @$$ into gear to get a couple of alts leveled. I’ve now got 5 at level 80 (HELLOOOOOOOOOOO 25% leveling bonus) with 2 more within 3 levels of cap.

When I learned that the turbulent time ways event was happening now, I was thinking I’d do it on a level 70 toon that’s parked indefinitely. Only problem, I learned a few weeks too late. If I get my first one tonight, I’ll be 2 weeks shy of the necessary 5th one when it’s over. Oh well. /shrug

Plunderstorm 2.0 is also live. I’m down to needing only 14,000 plunder to end my need to log in. I saved the 2 new pets and 2 new mounts for last, because otherwise I’d have probably just said f#*% it and not bothered with the new mog set or new weapons. I’m guessing I’ve got 3 to 5 more nights of using my 2-ish hours of gaming time to wrap that up.

Still not ready to find another guild. Still incredibly jaded about the destruction of [otQ] and [LPM]. Still angry at myself for my part in all of it as well.

Tracking Macro Updates for 11.x

A while back, I posted a way of adding tracking macros to your action bars. Well, in typical Blizzard fashion, they broke things with the 11.0 pre-patch.

There were a couple of changes to the API that killed the code. Here’s the current form of the macro.

/run for l=1,C_Minimap.GetNumTrackingTypes() do i=C_Minimap.GetTrackingInfo(l); if(i.name=="Track Humanoids")then t=not i.active; C_Minimap.SetTracking(l, t); m="OFF"; if(t)then m="ON"; end print(i.name.." "..m); end end

Change “Track Humanoids” to “Track Beasts” or “Find Minerals” or “Flight Master” or anything else that appears on the tracking menu or submenus.

Random Note

WoW stuff: Completed the pre-patch (aka got the ring and the achievo). Doing a bit more in remix than I thought I would. I just need MSV, TOES, and TOT on heroic (could probably knock those out one night this week) and I will have done every achievement for Remix. I got all the expensive mounts (18+K bronze ones, so I don’t need to farm a couple world bosses or raids anymore). I got a bunch of the mogs too, but wasn’t too worried about those. Being able to just auto collect all appearances, and hand class specific tokens to my fellow warband members, means that mog farming is a non-issue now. I’ll probably keep farming bronze for the hell of it and buying what I can before the event ends. However, if it ended right now, I would feel no regrets for “missing out” on anything. Honestly, if they did something like this for Legion or Wrath, I’d probably repeat what I did here. Just take it leisurely and do what I can. When I can. It was amusing.

Personal stuff: Last night we decided to drive up into Wyoming to try and see the Northern Lights and the meteor shower. As we were approaching the state border there were dark storm clouds, (heavy, black, and pendulous) towards which we were driving (a friend got me on the RHPS kick, so deal with it). We decided that we should just turn around and enjoy the lightshow from the storm as we headed home. Though, Jo was able to see a meteor in a break in the clouds, so it wasn’t a complete loss. The puppers was happy to have us home sooner rather than later, so it was a win-win all the way around.
