Heatmap with Dendrogram is a powerful graphical representation that combines a heatmap with hierarchical clustering. The heatmap uses color gradients to display data intensity, while the dendrograms positioned along the top and/or side illustrate the similarity and grouping of rows and columns.
Previously available as an app in Origin, this graph type is now directly accessible from the Plot menu in Origin 2025b.

Furthermore, two major enhancements have been introduced:
- Support for Heatmap with Grouping – Clusters identified by this template can now be visually separated on the graph, improving clarity and interpretation.
- Color Bar Option – If the data contains categorical information, color bars can be added alongside the heatmap to visually represent groupings, making it easier to identify category-based patterns.
The following sample graph can be accessed by going to the menu Help:Learning Center and search for Heatmap with Dendrogram. The sample graph project contains the tutorial to create the plot.
