What is Block Club?
We are a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) neighborhood news site, covering news all around Chicago. We are a subscription-based site, but a lot of our content, including breaking crime news, is free.
How do I contact you?
You can send news tips, comments, story ideas, press releases, cute animal photos, etc. to newsroom@blockclubchi.org. You can also text or call us at 312/860-0020.
We also encourage you to reach out directly to our neighborhood reporters with tips. Their names, neighborhoods and contact info is here.
Do you accept op-eds?
At this time, Block Club Chicago does not republish op-eds or letters to the editors. But you can send along comments, suggestions or news tips to newsroom@blockclubchi.org.
Subscription / Account Management
What do I get with a subscription?
A subscription gets you unlimited access to all of our daily, local news coverage, curated newsletters from your neighborhood beat reporter, and access to exclusive subscriber-only Block Club events, special giveaways and our quarterly, subscriber-only newsletter that takes you behind the scenes. A subscription also helps keep local news coverage alive in these increasingly challenging times for news coverage.
How do I renew my subscription?
Auto renewal:
Subscription payments are opted into auto renewal by default, so when your month or year is up, you will be automatically renewed and there’s nothing additional you’ll need to do.
Manual renewal:
If you have disabled auto renewal, you will need to manually renew before the end of your subscription term in order to maintain access. To manually renew and/or renew your subscription early:
- Click here (you will be prompted the log in if you haven’t already)
- Click on the “Renew Now” button.

How do I update my credit or debit card?
- Click here to access your account (It will ask you to log in if you haven’t already)
- Click on the “Add Payment Method” button

- Enter your new credit card or debit card information
- Click on the “Add payment method” button to save
- Click on the “Make default” button to apply to future payments
Please note: If your CVV or zip code has changed, you must reenter your full card information via the process above.
Can I pay for a subscription by check?
Yes, you can! Make sure you include your email address. We’ll contact you when you receive it and activate your account. Make your subscription check payable to Block Club Chicago. Our mailing address is:

What if I need a receipt?

Do you have group subscription rates?
Yes, we do. Send an email to support@blockclubchi.org for more information and rates.

How do I log in?
Visit blockclubchicago.org/my-account to log in.

How do I set or change my password?
If you are logged into your account
- Visit blockclubchicago.org/my-account
- Click on “Reset password”

- Click on the link in the email
- Enter your new password
- Click “Save”
If you’re not logged into your account
- Visit blockclubchicago.org/my-account
- Enter your email address
- Click “Continue”
- Click “Forgot password”

Note: If you aren’t seeing the image above, log into your account using the one-time code and follow the directions for logged in users in the tab above
- Enter your email address
- Click on the “Reset password” button
- Click on the link in the email
- Enter your new password
- Click “Save”
How do I change the email address on my account?

How do I update my account?

Guide to the account management tabs:
- “Account details” Change/set a password or delete your account.
- “My subscription” See all your subscription details (price, renewal date, payment on file, etc), renew, cancel or upgrade your subscription.
- “Orders“ See a list of charged subscriptions, refunds and cancellations.
- “Payment Methods” Add or delete a credit card. If you add a new payment, click “Make default” to apply it to future payments.
- “Newsletters” Manage your Block Club newsletter preferences.

Newsletter Management
How do I get Block Club Chicago’s newsletters?
- Visit blockclubchicago.org/newsletters or click on “Newsletters” in the menu bar.

- If you’re not logged in, enter your email address in the orange “Manage Newsletter Subscriptions” bar. If you’re already logged in, your email address will automatically populate.

- Click on the plus sign to add newsletters. Click on the checkmark to remove newsletters.

- Once you’re done with your selection, click on the “Save Changes” button.

Why am I not receiving the newsletters?
Not getting a newsletter you signed up for? Here are some potential issues:
- You haven’t signed up for any. Visit this link to adjust your newsletter preferences.
- Our newsletters are in your spam folder. Please add newsroom@blockclubchi.org to your sender list or mark us as “not spam.” Here are instructions on for Gmail, Comcast, Outlook and iCloud.
- You accidentally unsubscribed. This happens when readers accidentally report a Block Club email as spam, or attempt to unsubscribe from one of our email lists and inadvertently unsubscribe from all Block Club emails. To get back on our mailing list, please email us at support@blockclubchi.org.
- We’re the problem. We sometimes have technical issues and work hard to keep them from affecting our readers. But if you’re missing newsletters, please email support@blockclubchi.org.
