Conservation projects go beyond environmental efforts; they drive social development by providing infrastructure, fostering community cohesion, and improving local well-being. Together, conservation and compensation through Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) create a sustainable balance, aligning local and global environmental goals to support a healthier planet and stronger community governance.

In Nóvita, where open-pit mining left deep scars, the COCOMAN FRONTERA REDD+ project is leading a green rebirth through community nurseries and reforestation efforts. This initiative strengthens local communities’ commitment to environmental restoration, helping ecosystems recover and sowing hope for the future.
The YAAWI IIPANA REDD+ project enhances housing, healthcare, education, governance, infrastructure, and gender equity to improve the living conditions of indigenous families. These actions build a more sustainable and equitable future while preserving the identity and values of local communities.
The DELFINES CUPICA REDD+ project has revitalized Afro-Colombian culture and promoted active community participation in preserving their identity. Additionally, the marine turtle conservation initiative strengthens local ecosystems, creates new employment opportunities, and generates sustainable income.

REDD+ projects in Colombia’s Orinoquía, Amazon, and Pacific regions play a crucial role in biodiversity conservation and carbon capture across vast areas of tropical rainforests. With over 2.1 million hectares protected, these projects preserve critical ecosystems that host diverse flora and fauna, including endangered and endemic species.
Conserving these forests strengthens ecological connectivity in key habitats for emblematic Colombian species like jaguars, harpy eagles, and various sea turtles and reptiles. By protecting critical areas in the Pacific and Orinoquía, REDD+ projects ensure the continuity of these ecosystems and reinforce their role in carbon capture and climate resilience.
