AI in the World
of Film and Animation
We Continuously Improve and Speed Up Animation Processes
AI is rapidly transforming the world of film and animation.
Smart tools enhance scripts, storyboards, and production workflows, leading to faster results, lower costs, and fresh visual ideas. AI doesn’t replace creativity — it strengthens it.
Where AI adds the most value
In pre-production, AI helps turn ideas into clear plans faster. Think about developing visual styles, drafting first versions of scripts or voice-overs, or analyzing audience insights for the right tone and format. Thanks to AI, teams move faster from rough concepts to strong storyboards. AI generates variations, asks smart questions during brainstorms, and structures input into solid foundations.
The big advantage? You can add more value in less time during the concept phase. This leaves more room for production quality and creativity. It allows us to guide our clients better in early stages and focus even more on delivering strong final results.
How Bigfish uses AI
At Bigfish, we have been using AI tools in our production pipeline for years. In the beginning, we focused on automating time-consuming tasks like rotoscoping or batch-editing visuals. Today, both the technology and the number of tools have exploded. We now have the right AI solution for every step in the production process.
In the concept phase, we use AI for script generation, image creation, and video drafts. During animation and editing, we apply AI for advanced video editing tasks, such as color grading, super slow-motion conversions, and enhancing resolution and image quality.
In audio post-production, AI offers even more opportunities. We can create synchronized AI voice-overs, generate multilingual versions with matching timing, and save valuable production time.
Even for interviews or noisy locations, AI helps. Removing background noise, cleaning audio, and mastering sound happens faster and more precisely with the right tools. From kick-off to final delivery, we make every production more efficient with AI.
What AI doesn’t do
With all the buzz on social media, it sometimes seems like AI can do everything. As if you press a button and a film appears. That’s not reality.
Just like with earlier technology waves, AI tools mainly help to work more efficiently. Creativity, storytelling, and final execution still rely on people.
Many so-called fully AI-generated films are actually made by combining different AI outputs. Each tool does something well — but also has clear limitations. Professional results often require combining multiple tools, dealing with format restrictions, and a lot of manual fine-tuning.
Moreover, most AI tools are built for consumers. Working professionally in high resolution and correct file formats remains challenging. You often need multiple subscriptions, technical workarounds, and even then, the final product often falls short of true professional standards.
In short:
AI is a powerful tool that helps us enormously. But true craftsmanship still comes from people.
